PARIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was sooo excited to be going to Paris! I have been in Paris one time but it was the very first day i arrived here and I was soo tired that day so i was very happy to get to go back again. First off I went with Marie Jose (host mom) her sister, and Andrea we got to walk around in Paris and I was just so thrilled to be even walking down a street in Paris! We went into a huge church and I went to this one point and saw just about all of Paris and then walked down a street of people painting pictures and it was just everything that I have ever expected France to be! Then I walked down another street and commented on how nice the sun was that day and right there in the distance was the Eiffel Tower!!!! (it was really hard to get a picture because there was a huge gate but really it was beautiful to see the eiffel tower right in the sun light) Afterward i met up with Claire (Fleurines cousin who went to Canada last year as an exchange student) in a restaurant in Paris and i was just so happy to see that girl, I feel like she knows everything im saying because she was once and exchange student too and I just had so much fun with her! I also got to meet another American from another Rotary so that was pretty cool and we all went into Paris to this Christmas thing and also just walking to see all the lights and we drove in the car and passed by the eiffel tower and I could not believe my eyes! So beautiful it was glowing with blue lights and just so amazing! I got to jump out of the car for a little bit to take a picture near the tower but I still haven't gone up in the tower yet, but hey that's for another day. We sang and shouted songs from the car as we waited for the traffic to move in front of the Arc D'Triumphe! haha I will never forget how much fun that was. We shouted things like "HELLOOOOO" "SALUTTTTT" and sang so many songs and it was just so much fun. That night we went back to Claire's house and of course got only a few hours of sleep because we were stayed up talking the whole night. Its always so much fun talking to exchange students because they always know exactly what you're saying. Anyway the next day we went ice skating!!!! That was so much fun I feel like I haven't been ice skating for ages but eventually I some how remembered how to skate. I believe that later that night was the time we went to see a huge art show thing in Claire's town... It was like a spectacle and a lot of different artists and things were lined up in the streets doing different things and then one point later that night we went inside this really old building that was originally a factory for making wall paper so there was like a little "show" thing inside with a bunch of paint and I don't really know how to explain it but it was just really cool. The next day I think we went to Paris yet again and this day I got to see the Notre Dame de Paris and that was so beautiful, I even got to go inside! I got to walk around in Paris and take lots of pictures and then we went to drink hot chocolate, just like the night before hah I think that will be my thing when ever I go to Paris I will make it a goal to drink hot chocolate. Well after I went back to Claire's again for the night and the next morning we left for Marie Jose house Monday and we ended up going to another town to have lunch at Marie jose sisters house and after wards we went to yet another town Arras to visit the host sister and her boyfriend. That night I got to go into town and see all the lights that were still up for Christmas and I also saw all the old buildings and the architecture of the buildings actually had a spanish influence and were really pretty. Well we drove about 2 hours back home and I was so tired but managed to hold a conversation the whole way home and i was actually so happy that I could have a deep conversation all in French.
Tuesday December 30 2008..
This day I took the train into Calais to meet my host brother and we met up with an organization that helps the poor people in the towns and I don't know if I have written about it before but it really surprised me the first time I saw people begging in the streets here in France. I don't know maybe i'm just very sheltered in the U.S because I live in such a small town but from the moment I saw those people I just wanted to do something, anything to help them out but I never really knew how I was going to do that. Well its funny how things work out.. with my host brother and the organization we handed out tea and food to the poor and it made me finally feel like I was making a difference to help these people and I just had a wonderful day meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories and their dreams and everything. I really do want to do more to help out but I feel that that day was just one little but meaningful day for me and it makes me realize that when i "grow up" I really hope to do more to help people less fortunate that I out.
Wednesday 31 NEW YEARS...
This day I went to Cindy's in the afternoon and we went to her friends house to help get ready for the New Years Eve party and so we made a bunch of food and of course burned some haha but it turned out really great and after we just spent all night singing and dancing and listening to music and counting down the time until the new year and it was such a really really fun night and i'm just so happy that I was able to have a new year's eve in France.
Thursday January 1st 2009!!!....
Today my host mom picked me up with a bunch of family members and we went back into Berck to see Marie jose's parents and I actually ended up staying there until Sunday! it was so much fun...
I ended up going to a bunch of different beaches and obviously got a whole bunch of seashells!! haha it was freazing cold but lots of fun. Later on I did like this scavenger hunt in Berck so that was cool because it was like throughout the whole town and you searced for things in the window displays of all the stores.
Well I'm sorry i wrote all of this about three weeks later but I thought it would be nice to write about my Paris and everything. =)
