Lantau Island
One of the figures guarding the seated Buddha Since we have been on the road for a month I thought I would list some of my favorite things
When we flew on Southern China Airlines from Beijing to Hong Kong the flight attendants all lined up at the front of the plane and bowed to everyone to introduce themsleves.
In Hong Kong I took the Star Ferry across to Kowloon and found a park where men and women were practicing Tai Chi. Next to them was a lake with flamingoes and other lovely birds. I really wanted to take a photo but it seemed like such an intimate setting I just watched.
On the train to Guangzhou today we passed lots of fields with beautiful organised rows of vegetables. In the fields were tiny shacks that the farmers lived in protected only by plastic sheets. Little children were running around and there were people watering their crops. How different people's lives can be. I just got a glimpse from the window of a train but I will always remember it.

In a way it is great that you did not take a picture...I love the description of the Kowloon park, the people doing Tai Chi, the lake with flamingoes and other lovely birds. It formed a lovely picture in my mind. I hope one day I get to do this you guys are doing. Best luck!
