Edit Blog Post

A couple of days after our last post on the blogg my brother contacted me to say that our father had been diagnosed with cancer and is seriously ill. We are now back in Wrexham helping my mother nurse him and will not be returning to India in the New Year as planned. Although we have had to curtail our trip we both feel immensely proud of what we have achieved. We've had an amazing time and have lots of fond memories of the trip. Although it was not all 'plane sailing' the experience has brought us closer together and we have a greater understanding of each other's needs and capabilities. We would like to thank you all for following us on our blogg and for the comments, messages and emails we received on route - we cannot emphasis how much we looked forward from hearing from you. We would also like to thank all the people we met on our travels. The kindness and hospitality they displayed towards us only re-enforces our view that 99.9% of the people in the world are good.

Before we started this trip we thought, that after an extended period on the road, we would finally get this travelling bug of ours out of our system - it hasn't. Today you can fly around the world in a few hours, which gives the impression that it is shrinking. When you travel by bicycle however the world is still a big place and there is still so much more we want to see - God willing we will be back in the saddle to continue our travels in the future.

Finally we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Congratulations
Dear Joy and Steve, I have just caught up with your web-site and am very sorry to hear about your Dad's illness. I remember meeting him at your leaving bash at NMC and we had a good chat. Congratulations on your achievements - reaching India in the time you did was amazing. The web-site is a work of art too! It's a very inspirational read and I really hope that sometime in the future you manage to carry on where you left off. As I've been away for the last few months I'm a bit out of touch with how things are at present so I'll try and get in touch with Roy to find out. All the best mate and love to Joy. Regards, Eric (Afghanistan) Grete (Gastonbury).
