20th December 2008 - EXERCISE TEMPLE AND CRAZY NIGHT OUT!!!
When we arrived in Wollongon we headed straight to Woolworths for a stock up shop and then had a wander into town. I finally got my first 'not so secret santa' present and hoped that I was now on a roll........in any event I am cutting it fine!!! Later in the afternoon we headed to Nan Tien Temple for a look. Weird as set in the middle of an industrial estate but still good once within the walls. There were loads of buddhas outside the temple...cute ones doing all different exercises which we mimicked for some photos. One Buddha was bending over touching his toes and I so wanted to leapfrog it for a photo. Nat thought it a bit disrespectful so I held off on the urge!! Photo opportunity missed!!!
After looking around the temple we headed back to Wollongong and found a beachside parking spot for the night. We then drove back into town for something to eat as we both fancied something warm....a panini or a jacket potato maybe rather than the van food we had become so accustomed to!! Not much open though and we ended
up eating in a place called 'Hogs Breath Cafe'. Other than that there was only subway and McD's open and we didn't want to go there. It was ok...filled a hole but not the tasty delight I was looking for.
Once eaten and back in our beach side spot we cracked open our champers (or sparkling wine) that the old guy for Dalby gave us right at the beginning. We drank our way through it whilst getting ready to go out. No mirrors around but probably a good thing I can't see myself after getting ready in a van and not being able to iron clothes!!! We then set off into town to try some of the bars the information lady had suggested.
We started in FIBC and got ID'd to go in.....so good!!! The clientele were a little old so after one we moved on to Harp which was really good. Had a few rooms with different music and a karoke room which was fun to watch people!!! After a couple in there we moved onto the glassroom which was also a cool bar with a big dance floor which was where we spent most of our
time. Got chatting to lots of people none of whom could get my name right.....'Ebs' 'Ded' 'Beb'. After repeating my name numerous times I became bored and called myself Jessica for the evening...no one seemed to struggle with that!!!
Good moment too when Nat asked a girl to take a photo of us. The girl thought we wanted one of her and stood posing for the camera. So embarassed for her when Nat said "er...no...we want you to take one of us!!" Classic!!! We tried to move on to Coonies but the bouncer wouldn't let us in. We don't think he liked the English because we weren't that drunk at that point and neither of us tripped!!! We decided to go back to glassroom to finish our night off. I enjoyed dancing without being worried about trying to impress anyone or bumping into anyone I knew. So funny...I even had a dance off at one point with a very camp guy. I even put in a few of Stiflers moves from his dance off on American Pie 3. And yes...I was drunk by this point!!!
At around 4 we decided enough was enough and headed back to the
van. A weird guy tried to follow us and eventually we had to stop and tell him to go away ever so politely!! He eventually got the hint and channged direction!!! Chubbs was waiting for us when we got back and I was so pleased to climb in....I think I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow!!!
21st December 2008 - BEACH RECOVERY AND GOODBYE WOLLONGONG!!!
Ooooh...didn't feel my best when i woke. Wine hangover kicked in and I was wide awake at 9am. I was not good on 4 hours sleep.....not good!! Cereal helped and an extra glass of milk (best hangover cure ever) made things even better. We then headed to the beach for a few hours to get some more sleep. perfect weather as sunny but with a good breeze...very layable!!! At around 2 when we came off the beach I felt as fresh as a daisy!!!
It was then time to say goodbye to Wollongong and we headed off taking the Grand Pacific Drive towards Cronulla. The drive was a bit like a roller coaster...very badly surfaced but the view was good and driving over the sea cliff bridge was cool
though it didn't look quite as good as on the picture in the leaflet we had!!!
