Tuesday 16th,
I had a very interesting day, set out from Hahei, my plan to visit Hot Water Beach, 10km away, or wherever the road takes me. I got pickup just outside of town by a very friendly lady named Carra. She dropped me off at the SH26, which would take me to the SH25 on my way to Tauranga.
I walked for about 1km & was picked up by a older couple thats originaly from the UK. Very friendly & very interesting people. They've been in NZ for three years & is on there way to go live somewhere else. They have lived all over the world. They droped me off in Thames. Its a bit of an industrial town so I deceided to head out to Tauranga on the SH26.
Out of town three surfers from Hahei picked me up, Sam, Reece & Lois. We went christmas shopping & picked up a huge christmas ham. They told me I should rather take the SH25 (which I'd been traveling on) to Taurang cause the SH26 "sucked"! They drove like crazy people through the twisty winding roads & I was scared silly a couple of times! They dropped me
off at the SH25.
5 minutes later I was picked up by Haiden, a truck driver from Hamilton. We had a pleasant drive through some farm country & he dropped me ouside of Whangamata, a pleasant little beach town.
I stayed at the Whangamata Motror Camp & bought a tarp to put over my tent, I wasn't in the mood to get wet again!
That evening the Northeasterly started going bezerk, & I didn't get a lot of sleep, it sounded like summit night on Kilimanjaro! (Ferdi & Talita can tell you all about that!)
The town & beach was really nice, but a heavy bout of homesickness hit me and I had a depressing day.
Wednesday 17th,
God really came throuh for me today, He reminded me why I'm here & what this trip is about. He picked me up out of the dirt & by lunch time I was feeling great!
Two people I spoke to advised me not to hitch on the road to Tauranga, said it was dangerous. I asked God if I should take the bus, but He said no, I will keep you safe, trust me.
