Day 5 in Hong Kong.

Our induction into the Asian world seems to have gone remarkably well so far. Having been a full five days since either of us has used knife and fork, the culinary side of HK has been an adventure in its own right. Food is cheap and the choice is vast. Favourites so far have been dim sum, small steamed dumplings with various fillings and the noodles. Sushi is also common though Laura usually goes for the cheese when we go to the sushi bar 😊
Our hostel room turned out to be somewhat smaller than what we expected. We're on the 10th floor up in a building situated in Kowloon which is an island just across Victoria Harbour from HK Island itself. Though the room's small, it has a bathroom and is quite sufficient.
We went on the Ngong Ping cable car the other day which takes 25 minutes and provides great panoramas of the area. It took us to the worlds largest sitting bronze buddha and the Po Lin Monastery. With the air thick with incense smoke and people praying all around, it's quite unlike anything I've come across before.
Everything here is so

Everything we imagined China to be, calm, serene & beautiful
clean and tidy and organised. People seem to be so particular about carrying out their jobs to a high standard. We both bought Octopus cards; these are plastic cards that you credit then use for the tube, busses and even many shops. Tube trains here are a true breath of fresh air, they're clean, cool with good A/C, fast and frequent.
