Awwww...Awwww...Awwww...

One of our first pictures together in China - sad!
Today was Jean's 30th birthday, and he says that he is surprised at how much fun it was! It started off with... me forgetting that it was his birthday. LOL really, those of you who know me know that I am not a morning person... well, it was about 30 minutes after we'd left the house that I realized it was his birthday, and I felt SO bad... but he forgave me, so all is good. Ha thank goodness! Everyone at the school knew (because of course they have all of our personal information for visas and such), and at lunchtime they surprised Jean with a huge cake (which we don't have picture of yet because we forgot our camera - Jenny will email us pictures, and I will add them soon). And Jean's kids surprised him with such cool gifts - among them a tea set, an amazing putter set, candle stuff, homemade cards and drawings... such cute things!

Then this evening we invited a whole bunch of friends out to a new Italian restaurant close to our house, and most of them showed up! I think there were about 12 people in all, from all over the globe.

Playing darts - nobody won, we just gave up! LOL
2 Americans, 3 Canadians (including us), 2 Germans, 1 French, and about 6 Chinese - everyone communicating and laughing and talking, it was great! I've never seen that many people who don't know each other come together and have so much fun! We had a great meal (Jean had spaghetti and meatballs, I had pizza and tiramasu), then most of us headed a few doors down to a little sports pub. We drank tea and played darts, just coming home a few minutes ago. Check out our photos, you'll have an idea of our circle of friends here - very diverse, I love it!

Anyways, tomorrow night Jean has a date with Doreen (his co-teacher). Her birthday is tomorrow! Haha for Jean's birthday, Doreen gave him two tickets to see the new James Bond movie in English - well, I don't like violent movies, and she wanted to see it, so I'm babysitting Sophie, and Jean and Doreen are going to see it. I totally don't mind, I hope they really enjoy it - and Sophie and I are going to watch a cartoon (maybe Kung Fu Panda) - much more my style! LOL

So we're off to

Till more people came, that is.
get some rest, it's been a long week. For those that wished Jean a happy birthday, he wants to send out a big THANK YOU!!! And for those that forgot - a big SMACK! Haha... how can you tell I was told to say that?!?!?!

PS - Just a funny side story to show how funny life can be here in China... you know that Wuhan is a huge city of 10 million people. Well, today David had to go to the visa office for some paperwork, and while he was there he met Ullie for the first time. They are both from Germany, but had never met each other before. They got talking, and Ullie said it would be nice if they could meet for dinner or drinks some night, and David agreed - but said that tonight would not work because he had a friends birthday party to go to, and Ullie said it was funny because he also had a dinner to go to. So David and Julie show up at Jean's party, only to find Ullie sitting beside them! Turns out they both were going to the same party! Haha isn't that hilarious! Needless to

Jean has always wanted a pair of real Harley boots - well, we found some for a good price, and I bought them for him!!!
