Worth it! You're right, this time around has been MUCH easier! There have been a few tears, but nothing too major. Nothing in this life is ever 100% easy - in fact it's often the tough stuff that ultimately makes life worth living:) Jean and I will cherish our year here, that's for sure!
Hey! It's China. You KNOW there will be something unexpected! I'm not envying you those seven flights of stairs, but it sure will give you awesome leg muscles and great lungs. Congratulations on finally finding a place. Sounds like you're finding it a lot easier over there this time around. Any tears yet?
Teehee Well, let's just say your new bathroom will go on the pro part of my list of reasons to go and not go visit you in China. (And I thought Europe was strange with their slightly different toilets)
Congratulations on finding a new appartment. I hope no unforeseen and uncontrollable things happen.
Wow, this was a great read. That's really neat with the girl opening up to you and everything. People do that to me a lot I find.. I'll be praying for her! It's really interesting, complicated, confusing and suprising to hear about the spouse customs over there...
Thanks for the update, Tanya! ;)
So interesting Wow, I find all your pictures and blogs so interesting!! I'm so glad you take the time to post this. I almost feel as if I'm there with you I get so absorbed in reading it and looking at the pictures! Miss you guys as always!!
What I've figured out... From what I can figure out, these arrangements were sponsored by certain companies, and it was only a short term kind of thing. The flowers were watered every day by some park attendants, and the same people who set it up took it down. What was left behind is open season for whoever wants it. As for a time period, I guess however long the garden was planned for... I have no idea. It just seems to be something they do around here, as I'm finding out these displays were all over the city.
Who "put up" the garden in the first place? Would anyone have been looking after it? Why do the people figure they can just come in and rip it apart? Is there some kind of time period they have to wait before they can rip it down?
Bless his Heart oh Lord!!! Wow........ I am sitting here trying to find some words.........any words I do find will be inadequate.... of course. You know, I just feel that everytime someone reads this post there is an outpouring of love for your friend 'n her late Uncle........perhaps there is solace in there somewhere .......... Nice to hear from you:) Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoy our blog:) Are you teaching in Wuchang? We were there last weekend, we love taking the bus and exploring the city. What is your favorite thing to do so far?
This is a really good description of Wuhan, and great pictures. I'm living here as well, and looking forward to doing more exploration (I've mostly kept to Wuchang.)
Aww so sad! It's amazing how cold some people can be. I can't believe that mother would subject anyone to such cruelty! I pray for them and hope all works out!
Hi I stupidly forgot to add my e-mail to your list and was wondering where all your e-mails were... I decided that I will decide by January if I want to head off to China alone... all by myself... :(... If the offer for visitation still stands. I'm seriously considering it but am really afraid of being by myself. My friend asked me to go teach English in another country with after graduation haha, so maybe I want to see what it's like and watch you or something ;). Anyways, looks like things keep getting more and more interesting for you. Hope the issue with your money is cleared and you can stop worrying about stuff. Bye.- Sarika
Hey there!
Sounds like you having lots of fun over there... playing hostess to all those Swedes must have been a nice change from the classroom, even though it was tiring.
This week, for the first time since the semester started, I feel like I can make it through without losing my mind! Then again maybe that's because I've already lost it. lol! But I'm caught up on everything and so far have only one test scheduled for next week.
Go luck with the rest of the Hostessing stuff, and good luck on finding a new apartment.

Similar to a cucumber
That's ku gua, know in English as bitter melon. Good for you, but not the tastiest, unless you like bitter things.
