On the way to the park.
Lianhua Shan Park is on the northern end of the metro. It's the same park where I went kite flying a week ago. I finally made the trip back to explore.

Sufficed to say, the park is huge. I was there for about 3 hours, walking at my normal pace the entire time, and I'm still not sure I saw all of it. I'm now more confident than ever that the Chinese are very serious about their parks.

I came in on the bottom of the map, by the kite flying area. There are statues all the way around this vast field. I took pictures of most of them. It was much easier to do this time without children climbing on them. One even had a group of friends picnicking in front of it!

At the top of the "mountain" in the middle of the park is a statue of Deng Xiaoping, the "founder" of Shenzhen. He's the man responsible for instituting reforms making Shenzehn a Special Economic Zone. He undid much of what Mao did.

The view from the top is also pretty spectacular. Being able to see as much as I could.... it's quite odd to be able to see what you know are different metro stops (at least 5) on different lines, all from one spot.

I wandered around by the top of the map, then got lost trying to make my way back down to where I started (the entrance closest to the metro stop). At the lake, you can rent collapsable plastic fishing poles. I have no idea what the lake is stocked with, but there were a few trying their hand! There were also people posing on the huge rocks in the lake for photos. One woman was even climbing on them in heels, and then trying to look model-esque while also trying to not fall into the water as she leaned back, mermaid-like.

The pictures are posted in the order I took them as I wandered. It may be hard to believe, but I'm posting less than half of what I took!

I'm itching to go back and try kite flying on a less busy day and a stop at the tea house is a must!!

This is the one people kept coming up to and posing with or petting his beard.

Pagoda(ta, 3 tune) is also a Chinese world. It usually is a buddhistic place. Actually, the building in the photo is a TingZi(2 tune, 3 tune), just a good looking structure for rest. Another word "tower" is for the structure in the walls, such as Great Wall and City Wall(For example Xi'an City wall). The tower in Chinese is Lou(2 tune). City tower (ChengLou) is for the old building in the wall, LouFang is for the building for living etc.
