Ko Samet.

Hello from one of the islands, just 30mins from the mainland by ferry and about half hour away from Bangkok where you catch the ferry. I say ferry loosely, don't expect P&O! We had to board one boat and then scramble across two others, rucksacks attached to get onto the one we needed. Then half hour later you just need to scramble off in a similar way this end. The island is small but quite quiet at the moment, think it's early in the season which is nice. I don't think it's one of the most picturesque islands Thailand has to offer but the beaches are clean and the people friendly. On our first day me and my friend, Nicky walked the length of the island which took us about three hours. It was good to do some exercise and as it's not that hot at the moment was a pleasant walk. It was made all the more rewarding when we stumbled across a lovely spa resort. We managed to slip in for lunch in the restaurant and a quick peak at the private beach and spa. Unfortunately at 280pounds a night we won't be staying there, still it was a lovely lunch spot!!
The rest of the week we spent just ambling around the island visiting the various beaches. The best ones are always worth hunting out and we found a couple of lovely ones with few visitors on them. Another bit of pampering on one day included a reflexology session and we also had another thai massage on our last day on the island which I really enjoyed this time.
On Wednesday we did a boat trip around the island and were able to snorkel off the boat (not a lot to see though) and went to a fish farm. It was a lovely day and the best day for weather as it's been a bit cloudy this week. We had our best night out on Wednesday. Four of us had a bit of an evening of cocktails and it was a full moon, which the Thai people celebrate every month. We had each bought our own flower garland wreath thing ( it does have a name I think it's a puja?) and at midnight you have to put them in the sea and make a wish. We decided that ours should get a good send off and swam out with them into the sea fully clothed, you can not beat a midnight swim in a warm sea under the full moon it was a great night.
It's been a lovely week just having a restful time but am now looking forward to moving on again, and going back to Bangkok for the weekend just not looking forward to that ferry trip though!!
