A few days ago, we stopped on a bay to spend the night, we locked the bikes to a tree and went for a walk; when we came back, there was another van next to ours and we thought
we'll have company tonight; when I got there, this guy started talking in German to me, asking me if I was from Chemnitz, so I told him I'm not, but Dax is and, how the hell did they know??!!; well, they saw the bikes from the road and, because they are hand made by a man in Chemnitz, thay thought we got them from there and, not only there were from Chemnitz, but they have the same bikes!!!... in Auckland, as they wanted to cycle the country, but the gave up after a few days because the roads are impossible and it's very difficult to find free camping spots, so they bought a van and off they went!!!
The world is very small I thought... and I thought it again when we found them, 2 days later, queuing to take the same boat that us to see the dolphins...
It is somtheing I always wanted to do... it was
a 7 hour tour (and I don't like boats but, in the last month, I've been on 6!!!) and 90%!o(MISSING)f the days, they see dolphins... we saw them within the 1st hour but, my soul sank when we saw they had a baby and we couldn't swim with them as there's a law in NZ that says so... even though it was very nice to see them playing with the boat, the reason to do this tour was to jump in the water with them, so I was very disappointed...
we still have 6 hours, I thought... 5 and a half hours later, we had seen many islands and many fish... but no dolphins, until, on the way back, people from a sailing boat told us that they just passed that spot 5 minutes before... so we all opened our eyes... and then Dax saw them...
Dolphins like to play, so we didn't have to follow them too long as they came to us; we were taking pictures of them until they finally said there weren't any babies and we could jump in the water!!!... I was urprised that, out of the about 40 people on the boat,
only 8 went into the water... I know the water is cold and they have, not only orcas, but also great whites swimming around the bay sometimes, but we are talking about some of the nicest creatures on the planet!!!... it took me less than 5 minutes to get into the wet suit and jump off... I know Dax didn't go in because he wanted me to have pictures of the moment... I know even if he didn't say anything...
I didn't think the water will be so cold, it nearly cut my breath!!, but dolphins are hard work and they make you swim after them so you forget about the cold; is not that you warm up, its' just that you are enjoying so much that you forget that your toes and boogies are freezing...
But it was so worth it!!!, I forgot about the cold, the sharks and the people on the boat and I enjoyed for about half an hour in the water with them playing with us and not the other way around: they got so close that it looked as if you could touch them and, just as you streched your arm, they
swam away, or they were swimming just under you and, when you dove to touch them, they swam up...
It was one of the best moments of my life and, if it wasn;t because, after half an hour, you feel the cold again, I would have spent hours there with them...
The best: do I have to tell you??
The worse: the large amount of possums, birds anf kiwis dead on the roads...
Un suenho hecho realidad
Hace unos dias, paramos en una bahia a pasar la noche, atamos las bicis a un arbol y nos fuimos a dar un paseo por la playa. Al volver, habia una furgoneta aparcada delante de la nuestra y pensamos
"que bien, vamos a tener companhia"; al llegar a la furgoneta, un chico me empezo a hablar en aleman y a preguntarme si era de Chemnitz; en ingles, yo le conteste que no, pero que Dax si que lo era y, sobre todo, que como lo habian adivinado; pues es que vieron las bicis desde la carretera y, como las hace a mano un hombre de Chemnitz, supieron que las teniamos que haber comprado alli xq
ellos, no solo eran de Chemnitz, sino que tienen las mismas bicis... en Auckland, ya que intentaron pedalear la isla, pero se rindieron a los pocos dias, ya que las carreteras son imposibles y es muy dificil encontrar sitios donde montar la tienda, asi que compraron una furgoneta y se dedican a hacer lo mismo que nosotros...
Que pequenho es el mundo, pense yo... y mas pequenho aun cuando nos los volvimos a encontrar en la cola para subir al mismo barco que nosotros para ver los delfines...
Desde que puedo recordar he querido, no solo ver delfines de cerca, sino meterme en el agua con ellos... era un tour de unas 7 horas (y eso que a mi no me gustan los barcos... en el ultimo mes, me he subido a 6!!!), y el 90%!d(MISSING)e los dias, ven delfines... los vimos como a la hora de estar en el barco, pero, mi gozo en un pozo, como tenian un bebe, no nos pudimos meter a nadar con ellos, ya que hay una laey en Nueva Zelanda, que lo prohibe... algo que ver con que la madre los amamanta cada pocos minutos y se estresa si hay
gente o algo asi... aunque fue muy bonito verlos jugar con el barco y nadar justo enfrente de nosotros, estaba bastante decepcionada porque el motivo principal para hacer este tour era tirarme al agua, no verlos desde el barco, pero pense
aun quedan 6 horas... cinco horas y media despues habiamos visitado varias islas y visto mucho pez, pero de delfines ni rastro hasta que, por fin, al pasar al lado de un velero fondeado nos dijeron que los vieran pasar hacia 5 minutos, asi que la esperanza volvio a brillar en mis ojos y todos los abrimos todo lo que podiamos en busca de los esquivos amiguetes... de repente, Dax los vio y el capitan se lanzo a la captura... a los delfines les gusta jugar y no hace falta perseguirlos mucho ya que se acercan al barco, asi que estuvimos sacando fotos hasta que, por fin, anunciaron que no habia bebes y nos podiamos tirar al agua con ellos... me sorprendio que de las, mas o menos 40 personas que eramos en el barco, solo nos tiramos 8... vale, el agua estaba fria y, a veces, no solo tienen orcas sino tambien tiburones blancos paseandose por la bahia,
pero... estamos hablando de una de las criaturas mas bonitas del planeta!!!... tarde menos de 5 minutos en enfundarme en el neopreno y tirarme al agua... se que Dax solo se quedo en el barco para sacarme fotos y poder tener un recuerdo... aunque no me lo diga...
No pense que el agua estuviera tan fria, casi me corta la respiracion!!, pero los delfines te hacen trabajar duro nadando detras de ellos y en seguida te olvidas del frio; no es que entres en calor, es que, con la emocion, no notas que se te estan congelando los dedos de los pies y los mocos...
Pero vaya si merecio la pena, me olvide del frio, de los tiburones y de la gente del barco y disfrute como una enana una media hora metida en el agua con ellos, que eran los que jugaban con nosotros y no al reves: se acercaban tanto que parecia que los podias tocar y, cuando estirabas el brazo, se alejaban un poco mas, o nadaban justo debajo de ti y, cuando te metias a bucear, subian a la superficie...
Fue uno de los mejoers momentos de mi vida y, si no fuera
porque, despues de media hora en el agua, ya sientes el frio otra vez, me hubiera quedado alli durante horas...
Lo mejor: no tengo que decirlo, no?
Lo peor: la cantidad de zarigueyas, erizos, pajaros y kiwis muertos que se ven en la carretera
