Day Twenty Eight
Joe’s Birthday. Seven years old. Little man. He woke early, of course. We had a few presents for him (he’s already had some gifts before we left home) and the girls gave him their gifts. Can’t believe seven years have gone by. Jack and Emma gave him some more presents at breakfast and then we made some rolls for lunch and headed out to the Crocodylus Park.

Happy birthday Joe, it was a prviledge to be able to share the day with you, love the Martins. Off to Crocodylus Park. We were there in tiime to see the feeding of the crocs at 10. The lady behind the jump (as Rob would say) tried to involve us all, asking where people were from and then we headed to the breeding pens. Wow some of those men crocs were HUGE. Some of those women crocs were tiny! We watched the guide feed some and Em and Mima got to help the guide feed a couple. Those crocs do some amazing jumps for their dinner. The Martins had never seen crocs do their things so were slightly gobsmacked at their ability. The Shockers had seen it before at Australia Zoo so they kind of knew what they were in for but i can tell you the ooohs and aaahs from the kids told a million stories. They loved it. We saw baby crocs, alligators and heaps of animals. The zoo was a bit abnormal, nothing like Melbourne or Werribee, we are certainly spoilt for choice at home but it did have a museum attached which was well worth the visit. It told us heaps about crocs, their history and those around the world. We saw some eggs incubating too. I was a bit disappointed that we were not informed about the industry of croc products. The Park were happy to sell us all bits and pieces from crocs including dinner but did not inform us about the farming processes. We all got to hold a croc at the end of the tour though, either Kevin (very unattractive) or Cuddles (quite cute). Well done Joe, 7 years down!!!

It is hot, and i know i have said that before. We are officiially in the wet season but we are officially in the build up according to the locals. It is steamy, and just hot. Jac calls herself a tap which needs repair coz it continually drips. I feel tired in the afternoon and its not coz i'm tired but coz it is hot. I still want to witness the wet, just not this year, I want to come back and see the differences , don't get me wrong, i am having a ball as are we all. It is still the adventure that i was hoping for.. Darwin is a weird city. It is small compared to any other capital i have been too but it is individual, it seems more like a military town, everywhere you look there is a base of some sort but when you get into the city centre there are high rises too, it doesn't really make sense.

We left Crododylus and the Martins drove home via the Howard Springs Nature Park. Unfortunately the Springs were closed because the waters had "germs" which could cause gastro. We did see lots of fish and turtles though so maybe we will return again another day.

Back for swims in the pool and lazy times, what a holiday is all about .
Hope all our family and readers are well and enjoying our blogs. See you soon . xx

hi joe, hope you had a very happy birthday in the heat. i was wondering on Friday how you would spend the day, how cool to spend it with the big crocs!! your mum is a wonder too, how did she manage to cook that beautiful cake up there on a little camp oven?! she is supermum. loving hearing about all your adventures, can't believe it's almost over already. looking forward to seeing you very soon after your return, Finn will love hearing all about the crocs, and Daisy has a stuffed one too she thinks is very funny. She is crawling a bit like a baby croc as of this week, very funny. Love Lisa, Aidan, Finn and Daisy
