Before I came home Sunday night, Adam came over to Chris house and cooked us a nice dinner. First we went all over town searching for an open market, but it was Sunday night so even the 24 hour stores were closed. Yeah, go figure. We finally ended up and blockbuster. Spent most of the time oogling N64 games and recieving blank yet unbelieveing stares for all the films I hadn't seen. I played a demo DS and apparently I have an "eye age" of 30? ....Yeah, that's what I said too. The other Chris beat all of us at the Tekken-like arcade game but to be fair, he did have the advantage of the better joy stick.

We then stopped at a Tesco on the way home to grab some food for Adam's culinary extravaganza. He made some pasta and prawn dish, which we all enjoyed while watching Team America. It was funny to watch, being the only American. There were only a couple things that I noticed that they didn't get. I laughed at the impression of Peter Jennings and Adam was all over the place, asking what I was laughing about.

Sunday night Liz drove me home so I didn't have to take the train, which was very nice of her, and Adam and Chris came along for the ride. We spent most of the drive searching for sing along songs, the best one by far was Bohemian Rapsody.

When I got home my flatmates (some of them) were quite excited by the fact that I brought us home a toaster and a new can opener! We can actually have real food now. -ish. Oh and now I have a lap top! Adam brought me one, so now I am typing this from my flat, rather than in the computer lab basement. And I'm quite excited by the fact that Chris has the sims, so I am definately going to put that on here.

This moring was Monday, and coincidently so was this afternoon. Last Monday we were in Brighton so this is the first time we have had Monday classes in two weeks. We began the morning with FYE project presentations. Matt and I did a game/simulation that would ultimately prove that using condoms will reduce the risk of an STI or an unwanted pregnancy. Still worked, not exactly as I would have wanted. Can't really trust freshman to be responsible on the topic of sex.

After class, Julia (who is an administrator at the centre, my favourite one) took the three of us year long freshman to the local clinic to register with a doctor. Yay, I am now officially part of a socialist health care system, ha. I have an appointment set up for a check up on Wednesday. They gave me a jar to pee in and everything. I'm excited, it will be my first foreign medical experience.

I thought most of Shakespeare class was interesting today. It was focused on the performance of Shakespeare plays, specifically the way they were performed during his time. We read a monologue from Hamlet, where Shakespeare explains... essentially, how to act. I must say that it is the only text I have ever read on theories of acting, that I have ever agreed with. So, way to go Willy. I bet we would have gotten along well.

After the lecture we had to present our projects. Dan and I went last, but not to sound too egotistical, we were the best. Because we prepared! I hope we get a good grade. Dr. Rudd said that is wasn't that big of a portion of our grade, but it was still 20%! Our paper will be 40% and our exam will be 40%. I don't like this at all. And all of my classes are like this.

I climbed all the way to archeology only for her to tell us that she didn't want to have class that day. She said she would make up the time next week by taking us all to her house after class for wine and chocolates. And to show us her digging tools as well of course. She is great, I aspire to be just like her. She was telling us about how she's living with no cutlery, stealing spoons from restaurants. I was laughing so hard, but she was really sincere. I love how people can turn potenially sad situations into funny stories.... like my cooking.

We were all on our own for dinner tonight so I put this mini chicken pot pie thing in the oven and left it for about half an hour. Just like it said. Well... first of all, I still don't know how to use that oven. I think I put it on broil... second of all... I forgot it would be in celsius. Broiling a pie on 300C for a half an hour is a bad idea. I realized it was burning from the horrible smell and the smoke when I opened the oven. I realized what had happened immeadiately. I turned off the oven, opened the vent, then fanned the fire alarm, begging it not to go off. Andy was sitting there on his computer the whole time, laughing at me. I swear the pie looked like it was going to burst into flames. I was so scared, I told him that if the fire alarm went off I would cry. And I probably would have. But it didn't, thank the lord. And the pie was still cold on the bottom.

So because I was quite mad about my little stupid spell, Christine took me to Wagamama's (noodle place) for dinner, because the university gives us two for one coupons. After we got back some others invited us up to one of the class rooms that has a smart board to watch a film. A smart board is like a projector screen but you can touch it. There are these pen things that write on the board, but then you clear it by touching a button. It was quite amusing to pause the film and then draw all over people's faces. Now I am up in the flat again. (it took me two rounds to finish this) Going to bed soon, Maths first thing in the morning.

Observation: Casey likes these so I will keep doing them. Fruit juice is concentrated, don't just pour it and drink it like that, you have to add water to it. I made quite the fool of myself at Chris' father house.
