Blue Guitar
Photographer's Request: "Picture Me In A Thong" Weekend Getaway W/ Holly
After a low key week in Vegas...yes, I said low-key and Vegas in the same sentence...Holly and I planned to go to the L.A. area in Cali to change the scenery and hang w/ friends. As great timing would have it my cousin, Jami, and her significant otha, Evan, invited us to visit them on their getaway in Palm Springs! We arrove Friday evening and were given a guided tour of the house they rented...an old hotspot of Howard Hughes'...and were treated to a fantastic meal prepared by the culinarily talented Evan. After a quick tally it seemed we were all up for going out and seeing what Palm Springs' night life had to offer. Pickins were slim, but lively! We landed at the Blue Guitar which was cultured to say the least. The service was flambouyant and the music was just the right amount of cheesy. We enjoyed our cocktails and conversation out on the terrace to start and proceeded onward to check out some other social settings, but eventually ended up back at our original spot. Holly and I spent a fair amount of time out on the dance floor and even

Jaaaami. What did you do? caught Jami and Evan bustin' a few moves! After we wore ourselves out, we headed back to Howard's place and continued our animated conversations in the pool and hot tub!
Although we slept good and long that night, for some odd reason we started slower than usual. That was fine with us, though. We grabbed the sunscreen and our towels to kick it poolside. It was great catching up with the Cali Fam and basking in the sun, but the day was passing and we had to make it to L.A. to meet up with Terri. Despite our late start, we still had plenty of time to kill before Terri got off from work, so we stopped by the bar she works at to say hey and grab a bite, then headed across the street to the beach. We took a leisurly walk down the surf and warmed ourselves by the occassional bon fire. After a bit we headed back to Terri's work and made plans to rendevoux after hours. Once altogether, we caravanned to her homestead and gave our best shot at Rock Band. Holly was unstoppable at drums and I gave guitar my best. The game's addictive
and mezmerizing nature brought us quickly to morning with the Rolling Stones continuously playing in my head. Poor Terri had to work early Sunday and we headed back home and loafed around watchin movies.
Keep It Real
I'm definately getting more antsy about getting settled in NOLA, but I don't want to blow through this trip without taking time to smell the roses and see the sights. I'm going through San Diego, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, so if anyone has recommendations of whats worth a slight detour or longer stay, please let me know! Despite the occassional naysayer, extreme weather, an uncertain economy and other circumstances I am pressing forward trusting these challenges have purpose in the long run. I hope to maintain composure under whatever obstacles may present themselves, but I reserve the right to break down, freak out and go postal if necessary. Fortunately, for most of you I will be thousands of miles away ( :

So we got a little time with the traveling gal and it was great! We thought Ang was getting us out of the house but it was more like the closet! I hope we see her again if LA calls to her once more. Love you Ang (and all my fam!), travel safe!!
