Simpsons do Buenos
great to have lil big bro by the side for xmas in Argentina Well it had been nearly a whole year since i saw my lil big bro and it didn´t exactly happen the way i expected. Walked into the kitchen of the hostal friday morning(well 1pm, was a large night) small hangover in tow, when i hear a familiar line from behind me "hey bro, whats up" hugs and smiles later and its like you only just saw each other yesterday. Great feeling to have the big guy with me. Best thing about meeting family overseas is the memories you capture together to talk about and relive for the rest of our lives. And did we catch a good one on Sunday.
Me and Dan started the day late with a stroll along the cobbled stones streets of the San Telmo sunday markets. Charlie chaplin doing his waddle for the crowd, puppeteers keeping the kids in deep concentration and someone playing a new instrument on each and every corner giving everyone that foot tapping, the sun is shining feeling. We stop off to fuel up for the afternoon at the local cafe to divulge in the famous ooooohhhhhh soooo tender Argentinian Bife de Chorizo. Flugge and Christian you would be in heaven

we tagged it the night before obviously with these steaks. After late lunch we randomly bump into the 3 coolest Austrian dudes in town, Beat, Stefan and Stevie. They are on their way to the markets in the park. "wanna come?" LET´S GO!! We arrive to the park to find more market stalls and large grassy areas where spread out accross the whole park are different artists doing there own special thing. Argentinian African bongo chains are bouncing to the beat of the drum, bands are taking turns using a pre-setup kit, busting out bob marley and the stones, kids are kicking futbols, handstand competitions in full effect (bring it on kids), theatro students are dressed in black and participating in random mime games, a drunk is dancing like he´s back in the happiest time of his life, people are selling sweet tasting banana bickies and everyone will is quick to throw me back an hola when passing. We then discover a small graffiti filled cemented amphitheartre, a band has setup consisting of about 12 people and the crowd is starting to fill it up. The music starts, the saxophone, the bongos, the flute, the trumpet, the bass, the lead, the cantante and it wasn´t long before

1.20Aud for 1 litre of this good stuff more than half the 200 people were up on the feet and bouncing to a beat you only hear in in a south american festival. Of course i joined the flow of the people in the congo line and danced until they refused after 5 last songs, to play one more. Was so great to look around at all the people just enjoying life, smiling and dancing in the sun drenched park. To enjoy the latino spirit, their love for dancing, singing and music is one of the reasons i am here. The great thing is, you can find small free fiestas like this in so many places and every weekend. There seem to be more creative, artistic, performers than any city i have been too. People who are just happy in life, living a profession for love not money and the great thing is its well encourgared and supported by a lot of the community through people making small hat donations to keep these people in a positon where they can keep living and making others smile.
