Okay, we have been hearing guys shouting out Puta (or a word that sounds like it) as we walk past, so naturally assumed it was perhaps a flattering comment... so curiosity led us to finding out what it meant. The definition of puta in Cuban spanish is prostitute!!!
If anyone can enlighten us to the Chilean definition it would be gratefully appreciated!... answers on a postcard.

Anyway, after being relieved that we got into Chile in the first place, we were a little bit stressed when it came to booking our bus ticket to Argentina that we may not actually be able to get out of Chile!

Discovering that we needed our tourist cards to exit Chile, we had a faint memory of a supposed official taking them when we first arrived (come on girls, get with the program!).
So with just an hour to spare, the temperature soaring way over 30 degrees, and luggage in hand we attempted to make our way half way across the city to the international police headquarters and back to the bus terminal.

Thank god for the Latin American phrase book!!! Phew...! Onwards and upwards!
