Well yesterday school started and my schedule is all sorts of different. The school year is going to be more work for sure, but at the same time a little less time with the kids. Here’s what it looks like:

7:00 Arrive in the Section/Milpias Kids arrive
8:00 Kids Eat First Breakfast (this is when I eat)
8:15 Take the kids to school
8:30-10:30 Hacer Aseos (Do Chores)- this pretty much consists of wetting all of the floors in kinder and the patio outside upstairs and downstairs and then squeeging all of the water outside. Let me tell you this is some hard work and my hands are going to be so ugly when I come back from the blisters
10:30 Second Breakfast for the kids
11:00-12:30 Free time which I’m sure will always consist of me taking a nap
12:30 Return to Section and then go with all the Engargardas to pick the kids up from school
12:30-1:30 The kids play in the section
1:30 The Milpias kids eat lunch (these are again the kids from the trash dump town who are considered “my kids” so I set up up lunch, serve them, eat with them, and then clean everything) and on MWF the kids who live here have Tae Kwon Do
2:00 The kids who live here eat lunch and the Milpias kids return to their homes
2:30-3:30 Watch part of a movie after lunch and then go for a walk with the kids (On Tues/Thurs the kids go to the library for story time)
3:30-5:30 Outside time for the kids (swimming, playing on the playground, games, etc)
5:30-6:00 All of the kids take showers
6:00-7:00 Another walk and watch the other part of a movie
7:00 Dinner Time
8:00 Bedtime for the kids

Yesterday when the Milpias kids arrived with their parents for their first day it was pretty intense when the parents tried to leave. For most of the kids this is the first time they are attending school and leaving their parents for any length of time. Some of them screamed and cried for hours. I actually had to hold one kid down who kept trying to escape. Eventually we just locked the door so he couldn’t leave and he just screamed and screamed. By the afternoon when we picked him up he was better, buy yeah it was pretty intense. There are 9 Milpias kids who are all 4/5 years old. All of them cried when their parents left except for one really happy girl. I actually vividly remember the first time my Dad took me to school and I screamed and they had to hold me there too. It’s pretty normal and I’m sure it will get better with time. It was already much better today because the kids took the bus without their parents so there was no separation anxiety. I actually went with the kids back to Milpias yesterday because we had a problem with one of the girls (her mom didn’t come this morning so we had no idea who she was) and because another of my boys was so scared to back by himself. I had never been there before. All of the parents are really nice and ambushed me for reports on how the kids did. They of course all did very well in school and in the afternoon. It was a real showing of my Spanish. I was pretty excited. That’s about how my year is going to be- I figured you would all love to know. Also as a sidenote: my plans for the weekend ended up changing and my internet access was once again none. The electricity went out here in Miacatlan on Sunday again so when I returned there was no internet and it just returned so I’m sorry once again for the delay in communication- but I’m doing to best with the resources I have, you know? I hope all is well back home and most of you are gearing up to go back to school. I have a bunch of pictures to post from my descanso so stay tuned tomorrow for those!
