All righty! So, after all is said and done, I am finally in my apartment. I ironically say "finally" because, in all honesty, I wasn't even scheduled to be here until 23 August... but whatever - all's wel in the end.
The flat is really quite nice!! Size-wise it's not all that different from the one that I came from in Boston: it's basically one room with a bathroom, but the kitchen is a lot more "separate" than the one in Boston was. It's hard to explain, so I'm attaching photos. The kitchen is interesting because it has this big round wall that kind of interrupts it. The round wall is actually the stair well ín the center of the building. As for the rest of it, there are those that would be REALLY proud of me because I spent the whole of my first afternoon here rearranging the furniture 😊 It was a little bit dorm-like the way that it was originally arranged; the bed/couch was kind of shoved in the corner behind the bureau and the shelves were in very hodge-podge places... but now I have it set up like a grown-up house in a way that would

Couch = bed bring a tear to Ty Pennington's eye. I even made use of angles!!! Haha...
Anyway, the other exciting thing is the presence of a washing machine!!! I have to do it classic-Austrian-style, though, and hang it out to dry after the spin cycle... but never-the-less, my college-mates can very likely sympathize with my excitement at free laundry capabilities. Sadly, no dish washer... but we can't have everything.
Time here with the family is going very well. Karin and I have decided that we need to arrange for some kind of communication device so that we don't have to trek up and down the stairs to retrieve each other. See, I go home before dinner time... so Karin comes downstairs to get me for dinner. But all I can think of when she talks about this communication system is the little bells that go to the servants in movies like 'Secret Garden' or 'Pride and Prejudice': *Ding Ding* Jessayyyy, Jessaaayyy, my tea, please. But hey - Austrian law says that I am not legally allowed to do ANY housework... I intend to obey this law to the fullest.
As for Grace, she's a funny little thing 😊 She

complete with laundry machine has the greatest 'puppy feet', so we've all decided that she will be very tall. Judging by her fingers, I think she should play the piano. Goodness knows, the child is growing up in Austria -- she has no choice but to have SOME sort of skill in music.
The bells are reminding me... I don't know if I mentioned this after my last visit to Baden, but we are located very, very close to a church. Well, I guess I barely missed quite the spectacle on 08-08-08 as this was apparently a very popular date to be married... sorry I missed that -- Church bells every 2 hours? No thanks. It's bad enough at the first service at 7:15am.
Speaking of 08-08-08: Karin was actually pushed to leave the hospital early because there were dozens of c-sections scheduled so that people could have children with this "special" birthday. What is wrong with the world??
Anyway, I have a paper to turn in. So I need to stop stalling and get to sending that off (for those of you who are aware of my usual paper-writing techniques, I actually had this paper pretty much finished 2 days ago... I think it's something in the water... I was tempted to check my temperature for a fever!)
Hope all is well state-side! My condolences to John Edwards and his wife - it's a good thing that we even know about their marital problems in Austria *eye roll*.
P.S. If you haven't already seen it, I kept a tab of some tips that I received from Lea. If you're bored and have a few moments, they're worth a few laughs 😉

you call this a job?!
Jessi, just kidding, but it sounds like this family is treating you very well. The photos of Grace and her parents , opa, and nanny are precious. Congratulations to all! Is your apt. in the house?...very nice! Hot, hot here, so enjoy the Vienna Woods. My friend, Patsy, is escaping to Switzerland the end of this month. Very sad about Edwards feet of clay...in the beginning, he was my 1st choice because of his war on poverty. Now, Obamanos!! Enjoy...Love, the Gramps
