There was a Nobel Peace Center on the main Street, but I found this Institute in a different part of the city.
So I arrived into Oslo yesterday around 5. First thing I noticed walking off of the plane was that it felt like I was in Alberta. Spruce trees, green hills and a stiff breeze that makes one think snow is near even though it's August. Second thing I noticed at the airport, was the ease at going through customs. Hello. Passport stamp. Thank You. No questions asked. I'm sure I'll pay dearly when arriving home in Canada for the swiftness I got here.
After I got my bags I made my way to the entry area of the airport. I hadn't bothered to book accomodation for my first 2 nights in Oslo. It crossed my mind to sleep in the airport, but I was too tired, so I walked across the road and checked into the Radisson Hotel for 2 nights. Not exactly backpacker accomodation. Or backpacker budget either. Yikes. The good news was a shower and comfy bed right away.
I woke up today and walked back to the airport and caught the express train into Oslo. It's a 20 minute train ride and costs 40 bucks. I managed to cut that in half by getting the student rate. Thank

Near the waterfront
You NAIT for the student ID that finally comes in handy for something. Don't judge me. I walked around Oslo for a few hours, checked out the University, Government Palace, Oslo Castle which is still a military compound and the waterfront with all the cruise ships and yachts. I also passed by the Nobel Peace Prize Center. I'm sure it must be an important building. Finally I headed back to the train station got a 6 dollar bottle of water, a 3 dollar Snickers and another half price train ticket back to the airport. Now I'll relax for the rest of the day, and wake up tomorrow and head back to the airport for my flight to Reykjavik, Iceland.
