Venice was amazing we managed follow a tour group right into St Marks Square on our first day, it was so good to be lead straight there and make it before the lines got too big. Basilica di San Marco was beautiful especially on the outside, inside it was amazing to see the mosaic all over the roof and its lovely marble floors. The next stop for us was the bell tower which was conveniently directly opposite, we where so happy to see that there was a lift and we didnt need to walk up stairs to get up to the top. We got a nice view at the top and almost went deaf when the bells started ringing at 12pm.
Dont ask me how we managed to navigate ourselves back to the bus stop it was confusing to get around navigating over 400 bridges and 117 islands and we ended up wandering for 5 hours. (It was a great way to soak up the environment).
The next day we decided to go to Murano the glass making island. So as soon as we got off the bus we jumped on a water taxi and avoided getting lost through
Venice
St Marks Square the streets. I was glad to go to Murano because the quality of jewellery was higher and I knew I wanted to get something nice for myself. Dale was over shopping once we made it back to Venice town centre so we sat down next to the canal and watched the gondolas go by (how romantic) but the 80 euro price tag was over our budget. There where gondolas every where which created a huge crazy traffic jam. We had dinner at a nice place near St Marks Square and was surprised that it wasnt too expensive. I have really enjoyed Venice and hope to come back one day before it sinks.

Loving watching your trip
Hi - it is so great watching your journey through Europe. I am so pleased that you are loving Italy, one of my favourite places in the world. Venice is truely amazing. Lynn Pattle and I got our sence of direction eventually - our hotel was near the Hospital. The ambulance was also a boat!
