Yesterday was a pretty laid back day as we worked on the blog for a few hours. We had two things in mind that we wanted to do at night before leaving Cairo. One is the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids. The other was to see a bellydancing show. Both of these occur at night (and Giza Pyramids are a half hour cab ride away) so after a little fanagling, we were able to do both.
We talked to Imad about getting a cab to the Sound and Light show, which he did for about about 70 Egyptian Pounds (about $14) round trip which would wait for us during the show. We got there, and had a seat. Even though we weren't able to find our friend Thomas before the show, it just so happened that we saw him right as we were finding our seats. The show lasted about an hour starting at around sundown. The pyramids and Sphynx looked amazing with the lights, hopefully the pics do it justice. The show was narrated and went through the history of the pharaohs buried there. Some of the lasers and narration was a little over dramatic and
cheezy, but overall it was really an astounding show and was well worth the 75 Egyptian Pounds apiece.
We made it back to the hotel, cleaned up quickly and then ran over to the Sheraton Hotel where they have a Lebanese restaurant called Aladdin. We got there at 11:00 with a half hour left in the show. The bellydancer wasted no time dragging Cosmina on stage and having her show off some of her own moves. Can you tell who is who in the picture? We enjoyed hummus and kebab for dinner. The kebabs were served to us over coals in a Hibachi like contraption to keep them warm. It was delicious and ended up being the equivalent of $30 per person (considering we had some beers, coffee and dessert as well as the fact that it was a pretty fancy place, this was a great price). Enjoy the pics. We leave for Tanzania tonight!

Happy for you both!
Dear Drs. Nolan: The pyramids look gorgeous! But I bet there are no pictures that can do them justice! They must be breathtaking in person. ( Not meant to be a derogatory comment regarding the photographer's skill !) Boy, that belly dancing student certainly arrived prepared for her presentation! Didn't anyone tell her that a belly dancing costume wasn't necessary for this class! ( Ha! Ha!) Looking forward to your next posting. Thanks for sharing with us! Cathy
