Two days ago we crossed the highest point of the Camino. O Cebriero is the village that sits on top of this climb. The night before we were due to cover this accent there was many a worried glance between Pilgrims in the refugio as they cooked up their carbohydrate to prepare for the following days excertion. Some (including those who had walked as far as we have) had even gone so far as to arrange for their backpack to be especially transported for them as they felt unable to make it otherwise. Pilgrims can be a strangely worrisome bunch at times for the adventurers they might like to see themselves as. We woke up stopped for toast and coffee at the bottom of the climb (still rather intrigued to see what awaited us) then 90 minutes later we found ourselves in O Cebriero scratching our heads as to what all the fuss had been about. It was a climb very much akin to a medium Welsh mountain and fortunately similarly beautiful surroundings. The other milestone we had passed was the exit from Castille y Leon and entry into Galicia. With our 'Everest' conquered we continued for another 20 kilometres to our nights rest passing by lush green fields and pleniful streams. It felt like some sort of home coming our surrounds from the vegetation to the cloudly greyish skies could have been England. Had a pub appeared from around the corner it would not have looked misplaced. We were a long way from the hot plains of Castille.

We have now arrived in Sarria where we have found a good little campsite to rest up for a day. With 111 kilometres left to Santiago plans for the continuation of our walk are taking shape with a ferry home from Bilbao on August 23rd we have plentiful options.

What big hill?? Show offs
I seem to remember the climb to O cebreiro as being quite a challenge! Alright for you young things, travel hardened as you are, but us 'oldies' stopped at the Paradise cafe for refreshment and then taxied up the rest. How sad, I hear you say. Well done anyway. Missing you both
