I hope that there are people out there still keeping track of us😉 Yesterday we had a full day in Memphis. There were so many different things to do that we had to make some tough choices. We visited the Stax Museum first which is a music museum about soul music. Chris is by far the most educated of us all when it comes to music so he chose this particular one to visit. It was really a neat museum as all of us learned about the evolution of soul music and saw some great artifacts. It was disgustingly hot and humid, the 90's...yuck. The woman at the campground reminded me that Florida is worse and if that is the case then I don't ever foresee a move for me. After the leaving the Stax museum we went directly to the National Civil Rights Museum. The museum is really well done and brought back a lot of the history I learned as a child. Nick asked a lot of questions and became quite interested. The museum is in the Lorraine Hotel (the one that MLK was shot at) and at the end of the first building we actually stood in the room/balcony area where the assassination took place. The museum was thought provoking and somber. All of those teachers out there that are reading this would be proud of us! After leaving the museum we grabbed a snack in the RV (yes, ham out of a bag, or in this case a container) and continued on the Sun Studios. A funny thing happened along the way...we followed one of the local trolleys down a road that was for trolleys only, not only that a car followed us. I had such a hard time controlling the laughter. A nice gentleman came to the driver window and mentioned that it would be best if we took the next right, no kidding. The kids have been talking about our little mishap for a day. Sun studio had a live tour guide which made it really enjoyable. We could listen to stories about Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and others without reading! We actually stood in the studio where Elvis recorded, etc. This museum was a hit too!!! Could it be true that we had done 3 things that we all liked? Don't get me wrong there were some things that were liked more or less but there was cooperation over the 7 hours of touring. Oh, did I mention that some guy conned us out of 10 dollars to park the RV. Yeah!! He was good at it and took advantage of the traveling fools.

We then walked to the Peabody Hotel to watch the ducks!! If you haven't seen anything on the ducks then please go on line and check it out. They come down from the roof at 11 am and return to the roof at 5pm. I have never seen so many people watch 5ish ducks walk down a red carpet and onto an elevator. You can imagine how excited Nick was....so excited that he snapped 27 pictures on a new disposable camera. I couldn't believe it! The boys did go to the roof to discover that they are really kept in a cage overnight😞 Everyone was starving at this point, ham in a bag had been hours ago. We headed a few blocks over to Beale street and found our way into the BB King Blues Club where we devoured some fried green tomatoes, catfish and hushpuppies. It was great to sit back, eat good food and listen to some live music. We then headed for the campground and the kids took a little swim, of course😊

Today we traveled from Memphis to Branson, Missouri. It took longer than we thought due to the winding road that we were on. The map does not show how many twists and turns there are....it would be helpful, especially for us! We did stop along the way for pie for Devin and ate lunch on the side of the road in the RV. Today was a scorching 96 degrees. Branson seems to be much cooler. We just got back from dinner and I must say that Devin is determined to eat as many pies/desserts as he can. He ended up polishing off a big plate of blackberry and peach cobblers--a la mode, of course! Chris and I have decided that Branson is a very unique place. I am not sure that I can even describe it to you accurately. Many theatres, shows, hotels, etc. We won't be here long...long enough to shower and listen to country music while visiting the bathroom. Some of you probably would guess that we don't have any country on our iPods😊 Tomorrow we are off to somewhere in Kansas. We are hoping for Dodge City but time will tell. One mile at a time....

Please keep in touch with us!!!

Tam, Chris and boys: If you get to Dodge city, you will have to visit boot hill and by all means the "Long Branch Saloon". It must all still be there--especially boot hill-Ha. I was there 43 years ago:). Love ya, Mom

What happened to Nashville?
We miss you guys, but it sounds like you are having a great time. We have enjoyed reading the play by play and we give you all a lot of credit for doing this...next time take Steve! No Nashville at all? I would love to go to the Grand Ole Opry because you know there are tons of country songs on my ipod! Take good care of my nephews and try not to let people take advantage of you too much. Love, Mary Beth, Steve, calli and Ryan

Let's Talk Jayhawk!
Enjoy Kansas! Levenworth Prison is there and a whole bunch of sunflowers as I recall. History boy Chris can tell you all about Bleeding Kansas and I'm sure Mintz will respond with fascinating anecdotes about the Wilmot Proviso. Enjoy the heartland! Sincerely, Mitch
