wanfujing snack streetHello from the Beijing. I miss America today...
Right now I miss blue sky. Because in China, blue sky is hard to come by with all of their "fog" which is communist propaganda for "pollution". And I miss my family and dogs and cats. Now, you may be wondering how this is possible since I have two members of my family, Ben and Arielle, staying with me, and I'm dogsittiing a crackity german shepherd who looks very much like my dog, Daisy. But I still miss Missourah roads and woods and flowers, not all the damn flowers the city is planting to put on a good face for the Olympics.
The Games start in 29 days. And my opinion right now is that the city is not ready. Yes, the busses are cleaner and newer. And the streets are new. And the taxi drivers try to say hello and goodbye. And there are flowers. And they're busy constucting all of the displays at Tiananmen. But of the 8 subway lines that were supposed to be open by this summer, only 1 new one has been thus far. There's another one that would be very convenient and awesome, and I

Yesterday we FINALLY got out and did something cultural... otherwise known as Wanfujing snack street and chilling at Tiananmen... followed by food and dinner at Nanlouguxiang.
