All that remains of many buildings along the coast
Day two I emerged bright and early, well early anyway.
I got onto the road before 7, and headed down to the beach area of Gulfport which is right next to Biloxi.
The beaches were great some of the best I have seen here, I have been told that you can walk for hundreds? of meters out to sea as it stays very shallow.
The rest I wasn't expecting, just about the only buildings along the waterfront are the large hotels, everything else that had obviously been there was gone.
Thanks to Katrina.
Almost all of the smaller buildings were destroyed, all along the water front there is only the concrete foundations of the buildings left.
Only now are the roads and paths etc being rebuilt along the beach area.
A couple of streets back it is business as usual, so everything you need is there, just not on the beach front.
Even with this it looks so nice there I would like to go back and spend a bit of time there.
Getting back onto the interstate I made my way into Louisiana, and entertaind myself with a bit of frantic magnet hunting.
Success!
One stretch of I10 in Louisiana,
My first Texan! My first Texan! My first Texan!

Just makes you want to give it a hug and take it home..
for many miles is made up of 2 paralell bridges over a swamp, so you end up driving along about half way up the trees that are growing out of the swamp, surrounded by water, amazing stretch or raod.
If you are the lead footed type, don't bother in Louisiana, wherein other states I have only seen the occasional officer after speeders, in Louisiana they roam in packs......
I managed to make it to Texas by late morning, stopping at the visitor centre for my free map, they have a board walk at the rear of he centre over a swamp area.
Was full of local wildlife, turtles, dragon flies, tourists, and I saw another snake.
This one was an upmarket model from the last one I saw, this one had stripes.!!
The rest of the day was, uneventfull, jjust spent munching up the miles and negotiating the maze of on and off ramps through Houston and San Antonio in Texas.
Most of the countryside in texas along the route that I went was reasonably ordinary roling countryside.
However after San Antonio I started coming into some hills which were covered in grass and scrubby trees, had a semi arid

Hmmmm, now just which one should I be on?
look and getting a bit more scenic.
I finished the night at a town called Kerrville which is in a very nice setting by the Guadalupe river
Covered 700miles today, a bit over 1100km.
