So I leave Friday for AFRICA!

I recently learned that my placement is Tuleenui Orphanage. I will be there from 7:30 in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoons. After, I can go to other placements including the women and childrens' clinic for those with HIV/AIDS.

Orphanage - Caring for children, fun and educational activities for children

General Information
Mission and Needs of the Partner Program
Tuleeni aims to provide a place for orphans and street children, providing basic necessities that all children deserve and education opportunities so that they can become happy and self-reliant members of society. They have children varying in age from nursery school through secondary school. Most of the children attend school during the day, so volunteers often provide fun and educational activities in the afternoons and during school breaks.

Goals of the Partner Program
Long-Term
To provide vulnerable children with food, clothing,
shelter, and formal and non-formal education.

Short-Term
Tuleeni looks for support from volunteers in their daily
activities, in educational and life skills instruction during school
breaks and in upholding their mission.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:

• Support staff by taking the Sick children including the HIV / AIDS positive children the Hospital / Medical clinic.
• Play with the children.
• Help to bathe children.
• Help and Cook food for the children
• Plan and Organize the extra activities for the children
• Teach none formal education to children (Arts and Crafts songs, games etc.)
• Do counseling to individual/group kids
• Teach the Orphanage staff on local fund raising strategies
• Plan and create brochure and website for the orphanage
