This was great, sitting on the beach or on our front decking watching the sun go down
We got an internal flight with Vietnam Airlines to Phu Quoc Island from Saigon, which was about an hour away.

We arrived around lunchtime, got attacked by all the hotel/guesthouses sellers, trying to get you into one of there's, we wanted somewhere rustic and a good price, and we found one, so off we went on their motorbikes to the guesthouse...... it took around 10minutes on nice smooth tarmac roads then we hit dusty red gravel roads, we arrived and it was just wanted we wanted.

Some monks arrived on their hols and gave us some fruit, which looks like Lycee and tastes good, like a peeled grape, thats the only way we can describe it.

The beach was nice, and the view was great. At night you can see all the squid fishing boats with their lights on, and theirs hundreds of them.

We hired a motorbike, Stu 1st time on a bike with gears, he was quite nervous to start with but he did very well and we didnt most the island.

We stopped off when we saw a nice beaches and waterfalls. One part of the road was serious off roading, we meet 3 other english people and they had a bike each, so with my weight on the back, Stu got us up the hills and over the dodgy looking bridges (well if you can call them that) by the end of the days we were covered in red dust from the gravel roads, but it was great fun and not to be with a tour group was much better.

Lisa found some Dalat red wine, so she was happy, home made wine glass (bottom 1/2 of a water bottle!) and we just sat on our beach or on our hamocks and watched the sun go down.

We def recommend this island, its a great place. The island is a tear shape and is 48km long and has an area of 1320sq km and has some of the most beaftiful beaches in Vietnam.

From here we leave by boat to Rach Gia, then we catch a local bus to Chau Doc, we will only stay here for one night then, we will catch a boat trip up the Bassac River to the Mekong River to Cambodia (Kaam Samnor) then another bus to Phnom Penn
