Granda

Granada, Espana
Our morning began with a long, long walk. First to the Monastery of Cartuja, just past the City University. We continued to the old town, Albaycin, it sits on top of a hill, on top of a hill, etc. Many of the streets are steps, like Pittsburgh, but the reward for our hike is a grand view of Granada and the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada's...just beautiful! We were able to get wide angle photos of the Alhambra from Albaycin. Tomorrow we will be there to tour.
There are to our surprise, mini-buses zooming up and down the very narrow cobblestone streets...just amazing.
We continued our walk all the way to Sacromente. Then we waited for one of those mini-buses to return us to the city center. If we had known, we could have taken the bus up and walked down. Oh well it was good exercise and the day was cool.
After more than six miles of walking (I had my GPS wrist band on today) we enjoyed a nice late lunch. Bob had garlic soup, which he loved, and a tortilla. In Spain a tortilla is an egg dish with "stuff", maybe like a fluffy omelet--hard to translate, but definitely not our American/Mexican concept of tortilla. I enjoyed an "Insalada"---the menu said "mixed greens". It was tomato slices, iceberg lettuce, corn, tuna and, of course, olives. However, the Chicken was not the best.... way over cooked and dry...it seems things we have ordered are grilled to death, at least from our limited experience,...especially fish and chicken; glad we have our home with us and can COOK our own food (Did I really say that?).
