Yes, I know this is a blackjack table and we're playing poker, but beggers can't be choosers.
Ha, ha, ha Bill. I won’t post your comment, but I will acknowledge it here. First, I’m certain your film had more of a plot than ours… however you can be the judge of that once you see it (really it’s not that bad). Secondly, nothing to declare, but will keep you posted… maybe!

We had our first annual Poker Night at our apartment tonight. In the end, of the 10 people that said they’d come only four came. I guess that’s the problem of being a bit of a transient in a country, most of your friends are of the same blood and their plans can change with the smallest shift of the wind. We had a good time nonetheless and managed to get two epic games in between 8pm and 2am.

The first hand I was convinced that I was moving in with the strong hand, only to find out I’d been suckered (I’ll get you back for that Todd) - down $10. The next game it was this slow give and take game between Todd and I, I was up in chips then he was up. Eventually I was able to put him away with a few good hands - up $30. The worst thing about the last hand was most of it was in small change… which means I’ve got bus fair sorted for the next month.

In other news: we’ve got our film screening Tuesday. I think some of the team is beginning to question the plot (or lack thereof) that was developed, I don’t see this as an issue and I hope seeing the film again will change their opinion of our work. That is if they show our film!

We have a three day next weekend. We’re going a road trip back to Napier to explore the clubs outside the tourist centre of the town and then some vineyard/wine tasting.

Tomorrow I start working as a stage/prop hand on a local theatrical production that will be running a two week show in July. This should prove to be a good experience.

I should go now. I need some sleep for tomorrow, I’ve volunteered myself for construction work at NZ national Green Peace office.

The weather here has noticeably changed, but it’s still warm enough on some days to wear shorts, tee and sandals. The leaves have changed
What? Five of FiveWhat? Five of FiveWhat? Five of Five

I'd purchased a case of die for craps. When I got home I rolled the die and was surprised to find I'd managed to roll all 5's I thought that that was a bit unusual. then I noticed that each side of the die was stamped with 5. Someone had a good time setting me up for a massive fail.
colour and some have dropped, but for the most part they’re still hanging on the trees.

All my very best…

Oooops, I think we have lost you.
Hi Donavin, Recieiving your blogs is always a hot spot in my week or day. It is so much fun to enjoy the excitement in your life, in NZ. Now that I have read "colour" in your comments, I am worried that your roots have gone down too far in NZ to return to the gray PNW!? Melinda and I are glad that you are having such an extraordinarily beautiful experience down under, and from all the wonderful experiences that you have shared with us, I am hopefull of visiting NZ some day. I have a friend in Wahi Beach, that hopefully is still around. I just do not know how to look him up. He worked with me at Metro KC and retired to Wahai to live with his daughter. World Cavalcade travelogs that I have seen over the years, still resonate with me, and the beauty of NZ that I have seen on the screen is something that I hope to enjoy first hand, in my lifetime. Say hello for met to M. Marcos, my "DeSoto" look alike. Glad that you have found such wonderful friends in Auckland. Jim Lesniak
