After a rough day lying on the beach we had to cool off with a few refreshments, of course!
I have found a home! At least for a while. I have been sight-seeing my buns off for so long that I have decided to "hunker down" here in Port Douglas for a while. This traveling thing can truly get completely exhausting...sounds so funny, but true....constantly lugging suitcase every other day, researching and studying what sites to see, how to get there, planes vs. trains vs. automobiles, finding accomodation and always having to check out early with no chance of a nap! (Besides that, I actually have a ton of studying/reading/paper-writing to do for my upcoming yoga class in Bali. I recently decided to extend my trip and signed up for an intensive one-month teacher training program in Indonesia, but I'll talk about that when it comes up.)

Things were already just working out perfectly on my shuttle bus from the Cairns airport, as I met 2 Canadian girls who were also moving to Port Dougie. So, I quickly had 2 new friends, Cari and Cherie. They are staying 2-1/2 months. After only 24 hours in Port Dougie, I rented my place for one month, which is about all I have left in Aussie. It just all felt right and

like it's kinda meant to be for me to be here. My new girlfriends are fun, sparkly, optimistic girls and we talk daily and do lots of fun stuff together.

Port Douglas is in north Queensland (northern state) has perfect weather (77 and sunny everyday!), a 4-mile beach for me to run/walk or just sunbathe, super-small town feel, yet touristy enough that a million awesome restaurants of all kinds line the main drag, along with cute boutiques to feed my lately suppressed shopaholic. I have great access to Great Barrier Reef and a million other top things to see in Australia (Daintree Forest, Cape Tribulation, Atherton Tablelands (outback/mountains), etc., so it's also a good base for exploring. Best of all, I found the most ideal little cottage type place surrounded in a tropical garden with a private pool (I share with one person, my neighbor, Susie) and is a 2 minute walk to beach and 5 minute walk to town! I have a relaxed sanctuary feel, yet close to any action I may want! I have this big deck which is perfect for relaxing or entertaining. I often have my new girlfriends over for little afternoon parties or evening

my deck and relaxation area.
BarBQues (grilling out) on my deck, which is surrounded in lush tropical flowers, plants, trees and tropical birds....oh and my tropical pet hens (they are characters too). It's perfect and I am so happy here! Just what I need to rest up, study my yoga books and still expore this part of Australia.

So all in all, I have found my spot in Australia and I'm stickin' to it! I miss everyone at home very much, but this at least allows me a "homey" feel while I'm here. I send my love to those from home who are reading this. Please know I think about all of you so much and I will be back to spend time with you before you know it!!
