So we got out of Kuta and ended up in Padang Bay. We fired the first dive company we started diving with (AquaMarine in Seminyak) as they were incompetent. I won't go into detail but I have reported them to PADI. We ended up diving with a local guy (Tuncas) who knew the area and gave us excellent rates ($50 2 dives a day). We always seem to end up at the local Raggae bar (and there is always a Raggae bar it seems) and we hung out and made good friends with some locals Kleiner, Komang (who owned Kinky Raggae bar) and Tuncas. We got Kleiner and Komang set up on email so we could stay in touch and helped out Kleiner by buying him some antibiotics for a lung infection he had for a month (all of $6.50 to us). He has already sent us an email even though he just dropped us off in Ubud yesterday. He and Tuncas borrowed a car from another friend we met diving (Hella) from germany. She has to be one of the coolest grandmas you could ever meet! 59 years old with spiked grey hair and she was a better diver than the rest of us! I think we will spend a few days here in Ubud so Sindy can do some shopping...there are endless markets, art shops and street vendors and the stuff is amazing! Once again I am going to try and upload some pictures....wish me luck.

No luck once again!

oh, oh
thanks for the flowers. I want to be grandma but my kids are too young for it (27 + 29). So I have adopted some little children here in Padangbai and I am Grandma for them (Arik, 3-years old son of a friend). For the young people here I am Mama! It is nice and I really can recommend this little village Padangbai in the east of Bali. The locals are friendly and very strong connected to her culture and religion. Just some minutes ago Komang Rasta has explained some strange things about spirits to me. Come and see all the people! Love Hella (not grandma but mama)

Diving
Could you email me the contact information for the dive guide you used in Bali? I'll be heading there tomorrow for a week and would like to dive with someone cheap and willing to do 1-3 person/dive. Thanks in advance! Cheers, Jesse

Sorry!
I hope this is not too late... If you go to the Kinky Raggae bar and ask for Tuncas he will take you out for 2 dives a day for $50. Everyone in Padang Bay knows him.
