I just loved this tree, both the color and the shape. It framed the Castello so nicely I thought.
Today was the big day in Milan. I took a bus/walking tour of Castello Sforzesco, the Last Supper, Duomo and La Scalla Theater. Seeing the Last Supper was something I really appreciated. Just standing in the refectory where it is was an experience I can't describe. We had to pass through several air locks in order to access the room and then the same to exit. Of course there were no photos allowed, but I will always remember it. The Castello was interesting, but not too noteworthy. La Scalla Theater was interesting, as we were able to see a ballet rehearsal in progress as well as take a tour through the museum. I thought we would tour through the Duomo, the 3rd largest cathedral in the world, but we just looked at the outside and talked about it. There was a group of high school kids from Foligno, Italy, so the tour moved more slowly and was given in Italian and then English. Although the kids made up the majority of the tour, they were a good group of kids.

After the tour was finished, I took the lift up to the top of the Duomo. I thought there would

be an observation point or something, but there are paths and stairs that lead over most of the cathedral. I took tons of pictures, but today has been cold, overcast and is raining now. I have had good weather so far, so can't complain. After leaving the Duomo, I went to the same restaurant that I went to yesterday. The food was good and servers were friendly. Had penne pasta with salami, tomato sauce and Parmesan, and espresso I looked at the most wonderful leather jacket at a store. It fit like a glove, looked like a million bucks on me, and cost just slightly less than a million bucks. Even I wouldn't pay almost $1400 for a lightweight summer jacket no matter how loudly it was calling my name. Perhaps in another city I will find something equally great for less than my mortgage. lol

I am in the room writing this before heading out for dinner and the opera tonight. The seating at La Scalla is very unusual. It is all box seats, and appears that there are only small stools on which to sit. I hope I can sit still that long. I do tend to

Between the Vittorio Emanuele and La Scalla Theater is this small park with a statue of Leonardo DaVinci. I sat here yesterday and wrote postcards.

The first of several. It was such an experience being up on this roof, seeing how worn down the marble is from centuries of feet.

And another picture from on top. This is only one section of the roof; it is absolutely huge.

I had taken a picture of these ladies, so they offered to take one of me. I am on top of the Duomo and I promise, this is the last picture from up here.

Nice coat
Hi B, If you spend that much on a coat please get it a size or two too big so that I can wear it when you come home. Got your email and am having a great time keeping up with your trip. Lisa at work can hardly look at it because she gets so jealous. Live the dream.
