Easter Sunday, our little group took of in a local bus ($1 US) to Sunset Beach. This beach is very important to St Martin, it is in the Dutch side. The airport landing strip is just beyond the beach. The 747's lands on Sunday and Thursday afternoon. So here we are in beautiful Sunset Beach, watching the planes land and take off. Around 2:30 pm here it comes. Mom is laying down on the sand with Sony ready for a movie. Yes, here it comes, the wheels are about 10 feet over the fence, cars stop before runway cause they don't want tire marks on the roof of their vehicle. Mom got it in a movie, what a movie!!! Will be in the web page as soon as I have a good connection. Waited for 747 to take off, turn around time was 1 hour and 12 minutes. Carol, Vern and Mom walked out to Beach, held on to a post, to see what it feels like to be blown by a 747. We just about could not hang on. We saw persons falling, they were not hanging on. Mom had crouched down and had both arms around the post, so had Carol. Dad meanwhile was taking a movie of the take off. You can see the sand blowing, people moving around, unfortunately he was too close, about 150 feet from Mom, still to close, so he could not get the whole effect, the sand was flying so hard he was trying to protect the camera lens and his glasses. Meanwhile, Carol and Mom were hanging on for dear life, glasses had come off, their eyes were totally shut. To tell you what Carol said, I feel like I have had a facial, all the loose skin is gone. I was so glad I had a shirt with sleeves...
After this, we asked what can we do for an encore? Stay tuned...

WOW
A little sand blasting going on there, you don't get the true effect unless you are there, but still darn impressive. Try to catch up now and then where your sailing your boat. Missed happy birthday wishes to both of you. Will we be seeing you in FLA August?? Hope the wind is in your sails and not in your shorts. Happy sailing. L.
