Made my way to the Royal National Hotel to meet up with Elisa. We boarded our open bus tour. First thing we went past was Trafalgar Square, which I’m sure any self respecting Aussie, had no interest in being near, since the English were celebrating their Ashes win against he Aussies, all wearing their ‘Kangaroo Bashers’ shirts… we then went past Leister Square, The Ritz and we jumped off at the Hard Rock - The world’s first, as we were starving!! But they were closed due to a fire that had been through there 2 months earlier so we continued up the street to Henry’s Bar and Grill where a prerequisite to working there is that you have to be hot I’m sure!!! We had a great lunch and a couple of strawberry daiquiris before continuing our tour to Madam Tussauds Wax Museum. It was excellent and really well done. Had my picture taken with a lot of them. Went through the scary dungeon bit and I screamed when the actors jumped out at me and followed me, even when I could see them coming!!!
We then went and bought tickets to Phantom of the Opera, a show I’ve regretted
missing when it was in Sydney, for the past 10 years!!
We continued along and walked to the London Eye which is owned by British Airways and was erected for the Year 2000 celebrations but became such an attraction they didn’t want to pull it down. It was a lovely clear day for it and it’s maximum height is 135m, giving a brilliant view of the city. One man in our carriage was afraid of heights the poor dear!!
We had dinner then headed to Her Majesties Theatre for Phantom of the Opera, I wasn’t feeling that great in my thongs and jeans but luckily there was no dress code. We had wine, champagne and ice cream!! The show was amazing with the ballet, singing and costumes but I really would have liked to have seen the play when Anthony Warlow played in Sydney… but am still very happy that I went.
Going to try and finish off remaining sight seeing tomorrow, there is so much to do here, anything we don’t get done tomorrow can be done during the next visit. You just know that London is a place that you will always go back through
since it is a hub city.
I was home again late, 11.30pm or so and I hadn’t packed or anything and once again Matt & Vicky had my bed made up for me when I got home which was really nice of them!!!
Following day met up with Elisa again at Green Park, we were going to go to Buckingham Palace but as we had to meet Marie for lunch we decided to make our way out her way fist. We had brekkie earlier whilst we looked over a map to decide where to go. We caught the tube to Shepherd’s Bush, which is where all the Aussies live. There is everything there you’d need!
We met Marie, was so good to see her again! We love her, she’s just so beautiful and funny! We went down to her local pub and had Thai. We chatted, laughed and talked shit. She’s moving back to NZ by Christmas so we are thinking that we’ll all manage a reunion once she is home which will be fabulous!
It all ended too soon and we had to let Marie go back to work. So Elisa and I headed to
the Walkabout Pub and had a double rum and coke and it was goooodddd!!!! God I’ve missed that!!
Decided that I can do Buckingham Palace any old time!
I told Matt and Vicky that I could make it to the airport by myself, but being the excellent friends that they are, they insisted on taking me!! We collected Vicky on the way and headed towards the airport. I collected my bag from the storage section which was right near my terminal which was more than handy! We had a quick dinner together before it was time for me to go!! Both a happy and sad time all at once.
Matt talked to me about just coming back and using my visa… I know that he is right!!! Thanks Matt!! Just have to figure out now how to make it work… but for now, it’s time to go home, I’ve got family waiting for me!!
Well the trip has finally come to an end and the adventure is over. I’ve seen things I never thought I’d see and I’ve done things I never thought I’d do and met people I otherwise would not have known. When the
minutes turn into memories they last a life time and at the end of the day that’s all we’ve got… so was it work it??? HELL YEAH!!!
I’ve been asked how I’ve felt whilst travelling during a time of terrorism, I say if natural disasters such as tsunamis, floods, earthquakes and hurricanes don’t stop us, so why would unnatural disasters??? Keep travelling!!!!

I still reckon you should come back. Buy a ticket, jump on a plane and worry about the rest later...that's what I did!
