All been well people i have travelled with around that time are going to provide me some photo's so ill add at a later date. For now its just text....sorry guys!
Auckland, days 1 to 3 (dec 1st to 3rd)
Arrived on the 1st december. Weather hell of a lot cooler than fiji, but at least the sun was shining when i arrived at auckland airport. Staying at Nomads Auckland. Hostel was okay and in a good location to explore the city even though the street was a bit scruffy looking. I couldnt check in straight away due to the computers been down....great!!! Checked in about 6 hours later after a domino's pizza with Drew (guy i met in fiji) which due to on going stomach problems i'd now had for at least 3 days i had to fight to keep down or stop the pizza from passing through me the speed of a ferrari F1.
My dorm was okay,
and we had our own resting, tv area and our own kitchen & fridge which is always a good thing. Wasn't too sure about a guy i that was my room. He was from texas and looked and was kind of strange. He looked a bit like jesus lol!
Anyway, First thing i did was go and explore a bit of Auckland (i soon realised that wouldn't take too long!) and get some info on Tours around New Zealand. Kat and Alex had already left and started there tour bus. Drew was still in Auckland but was due to start his tomorrow with the magic bus. I really wanted to do newZealand in a car with the rest of the guys but as mentioned Kat and Alex had already left so no could do! I decided to do the Magic bus too which i would start on the 4th of Dec. The magic bus would cover both North and south islands over the next 2 1/2 weeks.
That night Drew and I met a girl from Preston i knew from Maui and her Kiwi friends for a night out on the town. Before town we all went to
the beer shop and then to a hill that over looks Auckland so we could see it at night. We had a few beers in the cold - the view was pretty nice though but nnot spectacular. We then went to various places and districts of Auckland, 1 been the viaduct (around the harbour). Viaduct especially was really good and lively and it was a really good booze fueled mental fun crazy night. Drew went a bit early as he had to be up early....light weight!! Everyone else went back to this kiwi girls house for a bit of a party.
In the morning i noticed a trampelene outside, so off i went and bounced around for a bit - still drunk i think! but it was a good laugh. Also i dressed up in these long haired wigs and hats that belonged to Katherine (kiwi girl place we all stayed) and i looked really hippy like and it was really funny....Took loads of cool pictures so i could up date my facebook profiles picture but obviously had my camera stolen later on so that went down the drain.
Had to do a spot of shopping as i
needed some warmer clothes for newzealand. Where's a primark, tesco or george when you need one. Auckland just doesnt have any cheap places you can buy good low cost clothes! So i paid over the odds prices for the cheapest clothes i could find which look at total doss / joke! Needless to say once New Zealand was over they went straight in the bin!
Set off on the mAgic bus tour on the 4th of December. It was at this point i started to feel really tired & groggy. Over the next day i started to feel discomfort under my arm which would rapidly worsen over the next day or 2. I plodded on and did my best to get on with things.
The above kind of sums it up for my 3 days in Auckland. In all honesty Auckland isnt that special at all. Its just like a mediocre british town without the history. Okay it has a nice harbour some pretty good nightlife but thats about it. The town center and shops are pretty ordinary..not a patch on like manchester, london etc etc. The locals arent particularily over friendly and approachable and a bit of
a funny bunch - they seem to lack a bit of personality but i'm only basing that on the crowd i saw on my night out. I'm trying to think of a good word that somes up Auckland but i cant think of 1. In all honesty though i didn't havea bad time and it's not really a shit place but i guess when you're travelling around the world and visiting these far away places you just expect to be blown over wherever you go!
