COUNTDOWN... 10 DAYS LEFT!

Ok, this is it. In 10 days I will be finally taking that plane to Bangkok (via Helsinki, where I hope to do some interesting sightseeing during the 5 h stop over at minus something degrees in my flip flops and tshirt😊. Although this trip was decided in a sort of impulse about a month ago, since the day I pressed the ¨buy ticket¨button, I have not been able to get it out of my head (in a good way, that is).

Although it is just a 17 days trip (and knowing that some of my friends who have been backpacking for muuuuch longer will laugh at me), an amateur backpacker going solo faces some dilemmas about where to go, what to bring, what not to bring... (the biggest dilemma seems to be so far: Koh Phi Phi, love it or hate it?? Everyone I have talked to has diverging opinions) Let´s be honest here: I have never ever been able to pack light. And putting all my ¨essentials¨ (yes, people, for me hair mask is an essential:-) into a backpack seems a quite ambitious exercise. But let´s see. I will do a ¨pilot backpack¨today to avoid unpleasant surprises the night before leaving.

I must say that, after the initial feeling¨what the hell I am doing¨and the looks that I faced when talking to some friends and family in Spain (about the fact that I will travel alone), now I am very much looking forward to it. My friends already set me in the mood by offering as a birthday present some backpaking essentials (notebook and speedy-dry towel) . Also, everyone arround here seems to have been to Thailand backpacking and is telling me the most amazing (and the scariest as well... damnn lizards) stories about it it. Just looking at how their faces lighten when they talk about their trips makes me wanna leave right now! Also, yesterday, Chris and Rachael kindly prepared an induction dinner consisting on red and green thai curry, which was yummy!!

Gotta get started with my ¨pilot backpack¨exercise (heelppppp!!!), but will probably write a few ¨farewell¨lines before departing. And also probably in Spanish cause my non-English speaking friends will be mad at me after this entry!
