From Hohhot to Hong Kong and back.

It was on Monday the 17th of December when I flew out of Hohhot's new Baita airport to Beijing. A flight of just an hour compared to a gruesome 10 hour overnight train. From Beijing another flight to bustling Hong Kong, which was a bit of a shock to the system coming from Inner Mongolia. For that reason I got ripped off immensely when having a haircut in Kowloon. Being my naive self, I just walked in without asking for a price.....I'll not tell you what I ended up paying for this badly done haircut. Wouldn't happen to you in Hohhot I reckon. I was only in Hong Kong for 3 days, hoping to get a visa with an undetermined amount of days, but didn't mind, because I wasn't swimming in money really, and well, Hong Kong is a bit of a shopping paradise.
Managed to do the peaktram on a reasonable clear day, visibility was acceptable for H.K. standards I think.
Caught myself incredibly happy after I had found the Indonesian 'district' in Causeway bay, where I managed to buy some sampoerna sigarettes ( the ones with clover) with the help of some Indo girls, who were all too happy to help me after I sang a song to them. (In Bahasa Indonesia ofcourse) Wasn't too keen on staying in the concrete jungle for 3 full days so took the MTR to the New Territories where there are some 'traditional' villages. Here one can meet the lovely old ladies as in the photo taken at Kat Hing Wai village.
Basically all these villages are walled and now inhabited by the old and cripple, but you do see some children hopping about as well.

Would've loved to go to Lamma Island, but unfortunately I didn't really have the time or an appropriate budget to do so, will have to visit some other time. For future visitors to H.K. wanting to visit Temple street night market; If you expect the usual market-stuff like me, talking clothes, jewelry and the likes, a surprise might await you, there are some products that you might just not expect to be sold here. For any women out there that are desperate for some much sought-after attention that is not readily available, Temple street might just be the place for you!

I reckon Hong Kong is a great place to hangout for a while, it definitely is a whole warmer than here in the north. Hope to come back on one of these rare H.K. clear days to take the peak tram again and make some great shots of the sky-scraper jungle that is Hong Kong.

When in H.K. be sure to be at the pier at 8 every evening. I wasn't, so I missed the lasershow.
