Hi all,
We are heading off on Sunday (6/1/2008) at 2:10pm. Heres our plans:
We arrive in Bangkok at about 7:40pm local time on the 6th of January. We are staying the night in a hotel near the airport because our flight to Yangon in Burma leaves the next morning at 7:15am. We will arrive in Yangon at 8:00am local time.
Burma/Myanmar - 7th January - 21st January
- Yangon (7th Jan - 8th Jan): meet up with Bianca's friend Marek and explore the city. Visit Shewadagon Pagoda etc.
- Fly to Bagan on the 8th at 4:10pm
- Bagan (8th Jan - 10th Jan): see the Temple ruins
- Catch a boat up the river to Mandalay/Fly to Mandalay (if boats aren't running) on the 11th Jan
- Mandalay (12th Jan - 14th Jan): explore the city and do a day trip to the surrounding Ancient Cities of Amarapura, Inwa and Sagaing
- Fly from Mandalay to Heho (Inle Lake) on the 15th Jan at 12pm
- Inle Lake (15th Jan - 17th Jan): Visit Jumping Cat Monastery, Catch a boat across the river to Indein, trekking.
- Fly from Heho back to Yangon on the 18th Jan at 6:30am
- Yangon (18th Jan - 21st Jan): visit the sights we missed the first time.
On the 21st of January we fly from Yangon to Bangkok at 8:30am and then up to Chiang Mai, Thailand. We arrive in Chiang Mai at 2:00pm.
Chiang Mai - 21st January - 24th January
We only have a couple of days in Chiang Mai, basically cause its on the way to Laos. We are hoping to do a cooking course and perhaps a day trip with some elephants. We are meeting up with Scott's friend Kat who is coming with us to Laos.
On the 24th of January we are catching an early bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khoung which is on the Thai side of the Thai-Laos border. We will catch a boat across the river into Huay Xai, Laos.
Laos - 24th January - 11th February
- Huay Xai (24th Jan - 27th Jan): From Huay Xai we are doing a 3 day trek (25th -27th Jan) called the Gibbon Experience
- Catch the slow boat (2days) down the Mekong to Luang Prabang, with an overnight stop in Pak Beng
- Luang Prabang (30th Jan - 4th Feb): relax! Visit waterfalls, catch up with Bianca's friend Anita.
- Catch the bus from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng on the 5th of February
- Vang Vieng (6th Feb - 8th Feb): White water rafting, tubing
- Catch the bus from Vang Vieng to Vientiane on the 8th of Feb in the afternoon
- Vientiane (9th Feb - 11th Feb): explore the city, visit Buddha Park
On the 11th of February we fly from Vientiane to Siem Reap, Cambodia at 6am.
Cambodia - 11th February - 18th February
- Siem Reap (11th February - 14th February): 2 days at Angkor Wat, a day trip to the flooded villages and a day exploring the city.
- Drive to Phnom Penh on the 15th of February
- Phnom Penh (15th February - 18th February): day trip to S-21 and the killing fields, explore the city, Silver Pagoda
On the 19th of February we fly from Phnom Penh to Bangkok at 8:30am.
Bangkok - 19th February - 21st February
We're going to Bangkok to shop. We figured we could get everything there and if we waiting till Bangkok to buy everything, we wouldn't have to carry it the whole way.
We fly home from Bangkok at 9:00pm on the 21st of February and arrive in Melbourne on the 22nd of February at 10:15am.

Just wanted to leave the first comment haha. See you soon for the cooking or the elephants. but not together. i hope :S im getting so excited! and my pack is going to 8.0 just to beat you scott!!
