You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two. Next Time, Don't Make It Mine Though,

A day mostly spent travelling, though not without incident.

For starters, I had to walk about a mile to the visitors centre, with all my stuff, to get the bus back to the Greyhound station. However, when I got there, the only bus stop didn't have my bus number on it. So I had to wander round for 20 minutes, before I found the right stop, a block away from where it should have been. Luckily I just made my bus otherwise I would have had to stay in Charleston an extra night.

Whilst waiting at the Greyhound station, I opted not to sit next to the weird looking guy who was talking to himself quite loudly, and sat 2 benches away. At which point, an older, just as weird looking guy walked past saying to himself (without irony) "Can you believe people still talking to themselves in this day and age, I don't know what the world is coming to...".

My journey to Charlotte was annoyingly broken up by a 3 hour layover in Columbia. As my phone battery was low, I decided to charge it at one of the stations they have at a lot of Greyhound depots. I'd just put it up there, within my easy reach, when a woman approached me asking if I wanted to buy a DVD player. I declined, and she moved on to the guy next to me, standing beside the phone chargers. Not quite trusting her, I kept my eye on her and sure enough, when she moved away, my phone had gone as well. So in a very British way I said something along the lines of "Excuse me madam, might I enquire as to where you may be going with my mobile telephonic device", at which point she got so confused she just handed it back. Peachey 1, Crime nil.

The rest of the journey passed without event. Got to the hotel fine, but the only restaurant around seemed to be a Burger King. Not ideal, but I sat to eat my meal, with a hispanic guy in the booth opposite. 5 minutes or so later, a third man entered the restaurant and asked if he could sit with the hispanic guy. He said yes, though from the panicked look on his face I could tell the two men had never met before.

I could here the third man trying to make conversation, but it wasn't really working, unsurprisingly. At which point, he got up, and went to the bathroom, looking back and gesturing for the hispanic man to follow him. When he didn't do so, he forlornly left the restaurant. I can only presume that there are a lack of gay clubs in Charlotte, and the gay population are forced to roam fast food restaurants trying to pick up instead.

Are you sure
that there was 'only' a Burger King or you went there on purpose having heard of the soliciting opportunities available?
