although i always thought bluff was pretty apt location for such a title. However, Ushuaia is 55 degrees south!
The 3 chicas rode into town today ... into the teeth of a bitter southerly snow storm. Ushuaia certainly pulled out all the stops to ensure we got the full Tierra del Fuego spring experience, and its STILL bucketing down in huge white flakes out there. Praise be for hostels with fires and beanbags.
We had a great few days peddling down from Rio Grande. Highlights included: the realisation that richard wesley may actually be a weather god (the tail winds continued), the Tolhuin bakery (Penny´s eyes nearly popped out of her head!), and laughing with a fantastic bunch of Argentinian scientists who were staying in our hostel. Kate is a total dab hand at charades, which is great, cos although the Argentinians do speak slowly, its still pretty hard for us to understand much. Also marvellous was finially being amongst the mountains, with snow down low and it was a lovely contrast to the flat tussocked pampas. On the way up our first pass of the trip, we were down to shorts and one top (a change from the
usually 3-4), and we were priviliged with clear skies and stunnings vistas.
and our individual hot picks (and the not-so-hot) of the trip so far
