It is now exactly 2 weeks since we have left home, mid way through our whirlwind tour of 11 countries in 28 days. So here is a “time out report” full of statistics, random photos of the adventure, unusual events and other useless information.
We have travelled 11,357 miles to this point and have seen 6 countries.
We have enjoyed every minute of our flying time of 27 and a half hours in the comfort of our private jet.
We’ve spent many dollars, yen, dong, riels, and rupees along the way for long distance calls, blackberry and email charges keeping in touch with all our loved ones. We miss you all very much.
Temperatures have varied from a low of minus 5 degrees Celsius to a high
of 36 degrees Celsius.
Since most of those countries are at least 2 shower-a-day places , that translates to over 60 showers taken.
Have packed and unpacked our suitcases 24 times…Thank you Eagle Creek packing envelopes.
We've had to remember 12 different hotel room numbers.(you think that's easy? Not only do we have to remember our own, but also each other's room numbers.)
We've gone through 7 time changes, including
passing over the International Date Line on the second day.
We have shared this journey with many interesting fellow travellers hailing from places such as: Ottawa, Baltimore, Oregon, Indiana, Vancouver, Montreal, Manitoba, the Maritimes, California and Ontario.
We have viewed remarkable scenery, cities and countrysides and have been awed by two Wonders of the World.
We keep pinching each other to believe that this is real.
And , yes, Lindsay and MaryEllen are still friends and talking to each other. We have found that we are a great team. We even have a secret new phrase to describe a special travel moment.
We will now share with you our “ Kimono Moment” . The original KM began on Friday, Nov. 9th in Kyoto when we dressed up as Geishas (see Kyoto Blog). As the idea came to us simultaneously in the beauty parlour (where all our best ideas seem to occur), the term Kimona Moment was born. It is now defined in our lingo as an uncontrollable, hysterical giggling fit.
Since then we have shared many KM’s. Not all can be described here.
We now have over 728 “hits” on our blog. We're thrilled that you're following our
voyage and sharing our adventures. Thanks so much for writing to us. Please keep those cards and letters coming . It’s great hearing from friends and family while we’re so far away. Makes us feel connected and we love it... If we don't answer right away, it's because we either don't have internet access or we're out having an amazing adventure.
If you're just joining us, remember you can view all the blog entries by either scrolling down or going to "previous' or "next" entry.
Kisses, Misses, Hugs and Love to our wonderful husbands, families, and friends.
Xxooo
Lindsay and MaryEllen
PS We still owe you stories from Cambodia and India. With our hectic schedules, we’re either writing too slowly or travelling too fast.
