Hampton Court Palace is an hour on the train from London and on the day we visited there were events on for kids (make a hat, dress up etc) and period actors strolling around so history was brought to life for everyone.

The Palace was a present to King Henry'VIII

The outfits the girls tried on would have been the type of dress worn by monarchs or very wealthy ladies from the Tudor period: Jane Grey, Mary and Elizabeth. The place is said to be haunted by a number of ghosts.

There is a pretty cool maze, very interesting kitchens (with huge open fire place and cauldron looking pots and lovely formal gardens. You can ice skate here in Winter.

These dogs hunt by sight. There are 5 dogs on each hunt: two whose skill is seeing, two who are good with a scent (one for picking up the animal scent and one that can smell blood) and one that could run very fast. Nice
