In case you're wondering Where in the World We Are ?....well so are we.....Due to some technical difficulties beyond our control, we've been unable to send you info........but we two techies have finally figured it out, so hopefully here we go:
After a whirlwind pre-tour prep, that included visits to many many Shoppers’ Drug Marts, foreign embassies for travel visas, doctors’ offices, dentists, various therapists for body and soul, aestheticians, and beauty parlours, not to mention travel clinics for inoculations against every virus known to man (or woman)…we are finally on our way.
We took lots of photos today since this will probably be the best we’ll look all month.
Boarding in Toronto was a breeze at the private terminal…Muffins and cappuccino…. no security, and no passport control…. We were even allowed to take liquids in our carry-on luggage … luxury reminiscent of pre 9/11.
We met at the airport at 9:00 am and said farewell to our fabulous husbands. Here’s the scene.
M.E.: Saying goodbye to Michael was sweet and swift….he couldn’t wait to leave me . Hope he doesn’t have a better month than me.
LINDS: Saying goodbye to Harvey wasn’t quite
as easy…..He stayed with us right up to the boarding time…..Hugs and kisses and just a few tears….(.but M.E. claims I was fine after 30 min.)
Then airborne, we were off on our adventure. We’ll try to keep you updated as we travel Around the World in 28 days.
We had a delightful and pampered first flight on our private Boeing 757. Since this plane is dedicated only to this tour , it feels like our own personal limo.
The approach into Whitehorse presented a spectacular view of majestic snow covered mountains with the small city nestled along the Yukon River. The town was named after the river’s frothy white water rapids which resembled the mane of a horse…who knew ?
On arrival we were greeted like visiting dignitaries . Imagine! The mayor came to greet us at the airport . One might assume from this that not much happens in Whitehorse.
The town is authentic gold rush style . Simple clapboard painted buildings filled with folks who love the great outdoors, and darkness . During the long days of summer they experience 20 hours of daylight…. the rest of the year only 6 to 8 hours
of light each day.. Apparently the birth rate fluctuates accordingly.
We went for a lovely walk with light snow falling. (Oops…bad hair weather)
Dinner (complete with a 3 peice band during cocktails) was a festive welcome and charming event where we received certificates confirming our visit north of the 60th Parallel.
Waking at 2:00 am( not on purpose) to witness the Aurora Borealis was a dazzling nightcap.
Enjoy the pix….We’re off to Kyoto tomorrow and new adventures.
Love from
MaryEllen and Lindsay xxooo
PS Miss you all

WOW...
You sound fantastic! When you are finished writing this diary it may be publishable. Seeing the pictures makes me feel like I'm right there with you . What movie was showing at the Yukon? "North to Alaska?" I can't wait to see more.. You both look like school girls going off on your first trip to Europe. (the hair looks great, by the way) Love to you both... Sherry M.
