After a twenty four hour bus ride from San Pedro (Chile), we spent 3 nights in Santiago. It was such a change to be in a cosmopolitan area again. Chile is MUCH MUCH MUCH more developed than Bolivia and Peru. There´s a major copper mining industry and export oriented agriculture in central Chile is extremely evident over the landscape.
We both really liked Santiago, and the drive down along the Pan American Highway was awesome because we got to see the Pacific Ocean again. There were some really nice beaches along the central/north coast.
In Santiago we did the following:
1. Went out for sushi and indian food
2. Went to see the Bourne Ultimatum in a movie theatre
3. Got french fries at McDonalds
4. Went to the Metropolitan Park
5. Went to the museums which are free on Sundays
6. Stayed at a very big hostel called Casa Roja, and used their enormous kitchen. The hostel has huge ceilings as it´s an old mansion I think, and it also had a pool.
