Okay, I guess we should have known how this city was going to fare when we got into the cab and the driver started telling us that "communism - good, democracy - idiot". His words, not mine. We both were disappointed with Budapest and are very ready to leave. I think this is more of a 3 day and 2 night kind of city than the 5 days and 4 nights we were here. The natives are not friendly and the service is poor, even by European standards. We tried to get out of here earlier, but we couldn't get out of our hotel reservation without paying the entire 4 nights' charges. In hindsight, it may have been better to eat the cost and bail out for the next place.

Not to slam the place entirely, we did see some unique buildings and had some good food. We visited the Parliament building and paid too much for a tour with yapping teenagers, so we only heard some of the history/information. It also got started late and only lasted 20 minutes. Another thing, their ticketing and entry processes are very unorganized and inefficient. Oh, that's right, this was supposed to be the part about good stuff here. Well, then I better end it now.

Doug is heading to Vienna tomorrow and I am going to Bratislava. We'll meet up again on Tuesday to catch our flight to Athens. That's it from Budapest. We're outta here!

PS. Keep the comments coming! It takes a lot of time to upload pics and update the blog. We like to hear what you think and it keeps us interested in updating you. Thanks!

Sorry to read that Budapest wasn't the best but it does look beautiful. The Parliament building and Chain bridge especially. Great pictures. I'm really glad you're taking the time to post them.

No beverage review?
Wow, the first journal that didn't include a beverage review! It must have been bad. Looking forward to hearing about Vienna and Bratislava.

Wait! I wasn't finished! Sorry the people were mean in Budapest. It sure looks like a pretty place, but pretty is as pretty does, I suppose. Did you eat that whole thing?!?
