I arrived in Munich to find it snowing lightly - what a difference to the weather I have had in the past few weeks. I didn't really realise how much the past week had affected me. I got to my hotel and was totally exhausted - actually, I felt as though I could breathe again, so I must have been more stressed from the Barcelona incident than I had realised.

I had a bit of a rest, but then put on my coat and braved the cold icy weather to walk around the city, which is lovely.

I wondered why nothing was opened, and realised that it was Sunday!! How quaint that the stores don't open on Sundays. There were so many people out and about though, just window shopping. It was fantastic!! The stores are full of smart looking clothing, very fashionable indeed.

The sights around the old town are marvellous with such beautiful old buildings and statues everywhere. Churches are so fascinating with their beautiful artwork on ceilings and walls. I've decided that I absolutely love Europe with it's history and architecture, the only downer is that cigarette smokers are everywhere and their rubbish is also everywhere!! Everything smells of stale cigarette smoke, thank heavens for the anti smoking laws in Australia.

I walked around the city for hours, but couldn't take 1 photo as both batteries on my old camera had died and I couldn't buy a charger or a disposable camera anywhere, hopefully I can get one tomorrow, otherwise I will have to buy heaps of postcards.

I went to Ratskeller for dinner. It is a Bavarian style restaurant with traditional food. Roast Pork, baked ham, bratwurst, gravy, cabbage and mashed potato, washed down with a beer of course ! I've become quite used to eating in restaurants on my own now.

Hi Di, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your camera... fingers crossed you get some batteries for your old one as I have become quite adicted to seeing your photos. Good thing you thought to take it. Germany is a lovely country, and this time of year there is so much to see and do. I hope that you get a decent taste of everything there. Love Barb

Wow!
Hi Diane, phew, I am tired just reading your journals! I hope you have recovered from your terrible experience in Barcelona, not a good thing when you are alone. However, I am really pleased that you are getting to see and experience so much of the places you are visiting, it will surely whet your appetite and make you want to go back! Your photos have been awesome, particularly Rome. I hope you continue to enjoy every minute of your travels! Keep on keeping on! Hugs from all of us, Faye

Fond Memories
Have you been celebrating the Oktoberfest in Munchen? We lived in a village not far from Munich called Schwabish Hall for 4 months than to Stuggart for 2 years. Don't forget, "Noch ein bier!!"
