La Brea Tar Pits
Yes, we are still alive! We've had a few concerned calls because we haven't updated the blog in a while. We have been on the road for the last week or so and have finally settled for a couple of days. I'll do a brief run through of what we've been up to for the last bit.

After I wrote last time Matt and I went down to Beverly Hills to have dinner with Vania. The dinner was fun, and as always, the conversation with Vania was entertaining! It was great to finally get to see her after so long!

Matt and I got up the next morning and drove back to Beverly Hills to see the La Brea Tar Pits. The museum was great! We got to see full skeletons of Mamoths, Giant Sloths, Saber Tooth Cats, and Dire Wolves. One of the display cases held over 400 dire wolf skulls that had been pulled from the tar pits!

We left and drove from Beverly Hills to Malibu. In the process Matt got really excited because he relalized we were "rolling down Rodeo with a shotgun in the car". Granted the shot gun was locked in a

case in the trunk, but none the less, this is what we were doing.

We got a seafood basket in Malibu and had an early dinner by the beach. We then went to Duke's, the famous surfing bar, and had a beer and watched the surfers (They were much better than us). We spent the night driving back along the beach to Eric and Patti's house.

The next morning we decided to redeem ourselves by trying to surf again! This time we all had wetsuits and we were ready to challenge the wave! We went back to the same beach to find the locals laughing at us because there were no waves coming in. Determined to surf we went to a beach farther north and were able to play in the water a bit more. It was definately better than the time before but I don't think we are going to enter surfing competitions any time soon! We did see a big school of dolfins about 100 yards off the beach jumping out of the water!

We left the beach and had breakfast at Uncle Bill's restaurant adn then headed back to the house to pack. From

there we drove to Phoenix to stay the night with Carole Vee. We had dinner with her, Ray, and Deven! It was great to visit with them for a short while.

thanks for the update
Hi Elyse and Matt, Thanks for the update. This is my first time participating in an online blog, so looking forward to hearing about your travels. Be safe, that shotgun is a good idea - be careful as you head through the South. Take care. Kay
