After Becs C almost made us miss our train to Kuala Lumpur (she stuck her immigration card in her journal which you need as you cross the border into Malaysia..donut!!), we were excited to be in Kuala lumpur. Firstly to see the Patronus Towers (Becs S saw them in the film 'Entrapment' and has always wanted to see them) and to get a small taste of Malaysia. We were'nt disappointed on either. Malay people are lovely, really friendly and the Patronus Towers, well they were just awesome. We visited them in the day and went up to the skybridge on the 41st floor (there are 88 floors in total) which joins the two buildings. As Malaysia is predominantly an Islamic country the Towers were designed around this fact. Each tower is in the shape of an eight-point star. This symbol in Islam represents harmony amongst other things. Funnily enough after being told this, we saw the symbol all over KL. At night the Towers really came alive, they looked spectacular all lit up and with fountains dancing at their feet. Not to far away is the Kuala Lumpur Tower, basically an aerial mast similar to the CN Tower in Toronto. It had fantastc views over the city and the Patronus Towers.

We did alot of walking around KL. It gave us a chance to see more things and get a better feel to a place, although tiring it beats a taxi or metro. Chinatown had a buzzing market with lots of genuine fakes!! Although there seemed to be more Indians than Chinese. KL has some pleasant lake gardens just to stroll around, however we did have a strange man on a moped follow us wherever we went, we were worried we might have to do some jackie chan! Located on top of a hill was the national monument which was dedicated to those who lost their lives fighting for independance. Like singapore, KL is a bit of a shopping town with a fair few malls scattered around. We even saw a model/fashion show in one of them.

Although there wasn't a mountain of things to do it was fun to just wander down little side streets, find quaint shops and sample the local food.
