Japanese Fire Walking

I got experience fire walking for the first time and lets just say Im glad I wasn't one of the first crazy people to walk over the blazing red coals.
In Asabata where I live there was a festival for the fire walking ceremony. The festival was set up on the street I live on which was pretty cool, I could step out my door and see the festivities from my door. I have come to love Japanese festival, great food.
The fire ceremony was held at the temple and it began with cereony chanting and praying and then they lit the fire. It was huge and you had to take many steps back as the heat was intense. Once the fire died down and the coals remained people began walking over it. It is said if you walk on the hot coal you will have good health for 1 year. It was horrible to watch parents push and drag their small children over the hot coals. Marissa and I braved it and walked over the burnng coals. We were not silly we didn't go at the start we waited for the coals to die down. It was warm on my feet when I walked over but nothing to intense.

This traditional Japanese celebration was followed up 2 days later with a traditional Australain celebration.

AFL Grandfinal in Hamamatsu

On Saturday was the big grandfinal and I was excited to watch it as my team was in, Power!!!!
Marissa, Kat, Matt and I headed down to Hamamatsu on the train to the Aussie bar there, "Downunder". We were meeting other people there so we were all pumped for the footy and a pie, yes thats right a meat pie. Marissa and I were the only South Aussies there, we were surrounded by Victorians but we would not be put off. I am very sore about the actual game, my team were a disgrace and should have stayed at home. But the day itself was brilliant. I got to have 2 things that I haven't had in 9 months, a coopers Pale Ale and a Villies meat pie with sauce. It was a highlight.
As the footy game progressed and the Power were a no show I was getting very drunk on Jacks drowning my sorrows. We stayed at the bar till about half 10 and caught the train back to Shizuoka. We had an entertaining drunken ride home and a fantastic phone call to our sweet Amy back in Oz.
Matt, Kat and I weren't ready to call it a night so we headed for a spot of Karaoke, always a blast. I cant sing to save myself but when Im drunk just try and stop me. All in all a sensational day and night, minus the slaughtering!!!!!
