Star Trails and Light PaintingStar Trails and Light PaintingStar Trails and Light Painting

I spent a chilly, chilly night sitting on a talus slope at 11,000' experimenting with light painting and star trails while Melissa and Bierstadt sat comfortably in the heated truck down below. Punks!
I'm not sure how "manly man" a guy is who has to consult the owner's manual to figure out where to place the jack. But, I appreciate Melissa's devotion to her mechanically challenged husband. Nonetheless, we got the tire fixed and are now riding high on some brand new 33" MT/R's.

We met a really great couple in Death Valley, Cameron and Patti. They were sitting outside the general store, near the pay phones we used to call in our unemployment claims, and we got to chatting. They were on a day-long marathon ride on their BMW motorcycle. We chatted bikes, I drooled over his 1100 and we exchanged emails. We hope to keep in touch and do a ride some time with them...that is, after we actually have bikes to ride upon. Speaking of which, we stopped at a BMW bike dealer in Vegas and looked at the bikes, body armor and helmets. We also picked up a catalog on the FS 650 bikes that I've nearly worn out thumbing through the glossy pages. We're currently accepting donations to support the cause. :-)

Finally, I'm adding a few of my photos. Hope you are all well! We miss

Sierra Wave Sunset

I'm pretty sure these cloud formations are called Sierra Waves. This one blew up at sunset one night in Death Valley.

An example of the gorgeous sandstone at Valley of Fire. This one is near the end of a shallow slot canyon.

Windblown Grass

Mo and I wandered off the beaten track and found several small arches and this lovely windblown grass. It took me 1/2 an hour to find the right composition but I'm very pleased with the result.
